Day seven of Michael Deering's October challenge, where the job is to make life good for the villagers of Aerdis Village in hardcore mode. Max_Writer and lostinthefort are on the call again, named in the edited-in captions, each in their own copy of the seed. Everyone sounds busy. "So much to do, so little time. This is day seven."
Back down the pit
Basket heads out past the wall to the sandstone quarry, which gets called "the most frightening place on my entire single-player world." On the way there's a dungeon spawner, still covered in torches, with two chests beside it.
The pit is deep now, and the torch trick from last episode comes back. "I need to use torches." Torches go down on the stone floor, the sand overhead comes down on them and breaks into items, and Basket digs out the sandstone around it. Being that far down doesn't feel great. "My biggest fear is the creepers gonna just spawn and jump down here." Before long, "my inventory is getting very, very full."
Someone on the call points out that a water bucket is the quick way to pick up a floor full of torches. Basket's water goes across the pit floor more than once.
Home before dark
With the bags full, Basket walks back to the village and the house base. "Okay, what's in town? How is town doing?" The haul goes into the big chest, and a villager stands in the way. "Hey guy, why don't you get out of the way?" The sky goes red soon after.
A new gate
The night's first job is in the wall. Basket has crafted a pile of cobblestone wall pieces "to make another gate," and builds two cobblestone towers with a gap between them.
The gap doesn't stay empty for long. A zombie walks right up to it, and Basket kills it with the iron sword. A skeleton with a bow follows, and it goes down too. Then the gap gets the same treatment as the old gate: layers of white carpet, and a cactus from the chest set into the opening.
Building in the dark
The rest of the night goes into sandstone. Basket digs out floors and raises walls in smooth sandstone between the houses already standing, with a torch inside once a roof is on. There's a lot of crafting, sandstone into smooth sandstone, over and over.
Then the sky starts to change. "Wait a minute, the sun's coming up." Basket crafts what's needed to finish. "I'll make two doors. Door and a door." There's a small regret, too. "I should've been underground digging for resources."
Morning in Aerdis
The doors go on as it gets light. Basket checks on the villagers, who crowd in close inside one of the houses, and opens their trades again. Emeralds are on every offer, same as before.
The sun comes up over the wall, and Basket walks along it in daylight. Basket ends day seven alive. The end card follows, and there's no gameplay after it.
