Michael Deering's May challenge is another village job. The objective: save the villagers, don't leave the village unloaded at night, and survive, all in hardcore mode. This time Basket has a partner in the game, FriarNurgle, and the two of them start in a small plains village with farms and a well. It isn't their first go at it. As someone on the call puts it, "this is actually our second attempt. We died the first day."
Food first
The run opens in the village farm, with Basket breaking wheat and pulling potatoes and carrots out of the rows. FriarNurgle is out among the crops too, and the villagers wander between them.
There's a problem at the well, though. "There's actually one in the well already." A villager has dropped into the water and can't get out. Basket crafts a wooden pickaxe and starts breaking the cobblestone rim around it.
A wood run to the south
With some cobblestone in hand, Basket makes an axe and heads out of the village toward a stand of dark trees. Someone on the call warns, "Watch out for the holes in the ground." The axe takes down trunk after trunk, and a huge red mushroom along the way, until Basket is carrying well over a stack of logs. "Actually this time I have quite a bit of wood. I have almost two stacks."
Back in the village, logs go into a furnace to make charcoal. Basket opens a chest in one of the houses and finds two diamonds, an iron ingot, saplings, bread and apples, then takes some of the food.
Shutting the villagers in
The sun is going down. Torches go up inside the houses, and doors and blocks close the villagers in for the night. As it's put on the call, "We need to put in torches in these rooms before I lock them in." Basket crafts a sword, and the achievement for it pops up in chat.
The first night on the roofs
When it gets dark, the two of them watch from up high: a cobblestone rooftop with a stone slab rim, and a wooden deck with a fence around it. Below, mobs move around between the houses. Basket climbs down ladders into the houses to check on the villagers inside and opens one villager's trade window. A spider that climbs onto the roof goes down there.
Then Basket's screen cuts to "Connection Lost." A moment later Basket is logging back in, and someone on the call says, "Where did you go? You made me all alone."
Sunrise
A baby zombie is still loose somewhere, and the talk turns to the gaps it could fit through. Then the sky goes red. "Stand with me and watch the sunrise."
The call signs off with someone saying "the library is infected," answered with "What library? There was no library." This episode never shows the inside of that house. The last shot shows two players standing on the wooden deck in daylight, then the end card runs, with no gameplay after it.
