Day two of Michael Deering's May challenge starts with bad news. The first night didn't go as cleanly as it looked. Basket opens the episode explaining that some zombies "infected all of our villagers in this building, and then killed them. Well, or turned them, I guess."
Zombies in the house
Basket goes into a dark house with a stone sword and kills a zombie there, and the Monster Hunter achievement pops up in chat. Next door, behind blocked doorways and windows full of bookshelves, are the zombie villagers. FriarNurgle comes over to look.
Curing them is an option, but a costly one. As it's put on the call, "it would be a big adventure to try and get enough gold and weakness potions. And we can't leave the village during the night." They decide not to decide yet, and Basket blocks the doors in tighter.
Fence posts everywhere
The plan for the day is a perimeter. Basket turns logs into fence and starts running it around the edge of the village, past the houses and the farms. "Very haphazard fence placement, but it will work." The wood runs out fast, so it's back to the trees for more.
Partway through, Basket logs out of the server on purpose ("Something tells me I'm about to be disconnected") and comes straight back in. Back at the house afterward, the zombie villagers aren't there anymore. The guess on the call is that they despawned while Basket was gone. "I guess that made the decision for us."
Gates, a pig and a lot of torches
Fence gates go in for entrances, and torches go up all over the inside of the fence so nothing spawns there. A pig ends up inside too, through one of the new gates. The cows aren't so lucky: "It's alright cows, you guys are on the outside."
The second night
This night they don't sit on the roofs. Basket crafts doors and hangs them on the houses that still have open doorways, walking the village with a torch in hand. A spider comes up the path and the sword comes out. "So it seems like our border is secure, and I don't see any bad guys spawning inside."
There's a plan for next time, too. They have plenty of food but no armor, so the idea is to dig a mine down from inside the village for iron, so they can stay close enough to keep the village loaded.
Letting them out
At sunrise Basket breaks open the shut-in houses. There are more villagers inside than anyone counted. "Okay, we actually have, I guess, six then." Basket checks a couple of trade windows, one of them selling cookies for an emerald.
The episode ends with the two players in the farm among the villagers in the morning light, and the sign-off on the call: "nobody died. At least this day." The end card follows, with no gameplay after it.
