Day six of Michael Deering's May challenge opens with the job already set. "This is day six," and the plan is still the same: put a wall of cobblestone all the way around the village.
Pushing the wall out
Basket starts on the grass outside the fence, running a cobblestone line out past the farm while the two work out how far to go. "Watch out for the creepers." There's a reminder about the cows, too. "Don't kill the cows." "Well, we did breed one, so I guess technically we can't kill one."
Back in a village house, Basket smelts iron and crafts a pair of iron boots. Out on the slope, the wall doesn't fight the land. "As the gradient of the hill goes up we can increase the height," so it stays three high the whole way, without "an awful lot of terraforming."
A tower in the corner
Next question: what shape for the towers? "Probably just squares are fine." There's a check for villagers left outside the line, Basket torches the ground on the inside, and the first corner tower goes in. It comes out "seven by seven," with the wall running into its middle. "You go three in and three out."
Efficiency for the pickaxe
The enchanting table from day five now sits among the bookshelves in the library house. Basket uses it on the diamond pickaxe. "Efficiency 2. Good."
The wall needs more cobblestone than Basket is carrying, so it's down into the ground to mine. Then an idea: dig a quarry right under the town, behind gates. "Then we wouldn't have to worry about being out of the chunk."
Night on the battlements
"The sun is going down." Basket comes up at sunset with more cobblestone. FriarNurgle is up on the corner tower in the dark, and the plans keep coming on the call: ladders to get up, but no bottom ladder "so then the villagers won't go up," slabs on top so mobs can't spawn, and a main gate, "like a cool gate house sort of thing." The towers should be "at least taller than the library."
Basket spends the night filling in wall, adding torches and crafting a fence gate.
A quarry under the tower
Then Basket digs a shaft down inside the tower, puts in ladders and fences the hole off. "I'm making a little quarry underneath this tower you're in." Most of the rest of the night is spent mining down there. One more idea gets floated on the call, a cobblestone generator that would pour out the wall itself using water and lava. "But I couldn't think of a way to do it, really."
"Oh, the sun is rising." Basket climbs the ladder, stone sword in hand, and joins FriarNurgle on top of the tower at dawn. "And once again, the village is secure, very, very secure." Both players are alive at the end of day six, and no villager death shows on screen. A few shots of the tower top at sunrise come next, then the end card, with no gameplay after it.
