The last episode of Michael Deering's May challenge opens with a check on the villagers. "They're actually pretty safe. We're just sort of working on the fort." What's left is a bit of the wall and "the battlements, or whatever these things are called."
Battlements
"It has been a while since we've been on," someone says on the call. "Just need to kind of get my bearings again." Basket's day starts up on the wall top. Cobblestone and slabs go down in a pattern along the edge, block, gap, block, all the way toward the corner tower. There's one loose end outside the wall too: "We still have one building outside. I'm going to take the door off of the building outside, just in case."
The work runs into the evening. "Oh, looks like a good sundown. Already?"
Night inside the walls
Night falls and Basket walks the village with a pickaxe, past the farms and the torches along the inner wall. FriarNurgle heads off between the houses.
An idea comes up on the call: "I was just gonna start spamming doors in the wall here, and we'll see maybe if we can get any villagers to spawn, just for fun, since we did lose a couple." Another one goes past for a later month. "Did we ever create an extra chest? I think we've only been doing this with one chest." "Now there would be a new challenge."
Clearing the trees
A few big trees still stand inside the walls. "This is a mess." "Oh, yeah. It is." Basket spends most of the dark hours up in the leaves with an axe, chopping out the logs one by one. "I think we got all the logs. Pretty sure."
The leaves stay behind, hanging in the air over the houses as the sun comes up. Basket switches to shears and starts picking them off the sky.
A last look from the tower
"Looks like this is the end of the day, or rather the end of the episode, the beginning of the day." The plan is to sign off somewhere with a view, so the two pick the closest tower and climb up. "I think our fort turned out pretty well." "So do I." The wall still runs straight through the farm, and "there were some zoning issues."
From the top there's a stretch of plains outside the wall dotted with little round ponds ringed by sand. "Almost looks like a paw print or something."
The verdict on the call: "Other than the incident in the library, I think it was a raging success." "Very, very fortified." If they logged off and never came back, "they would still be here." "Especially when the chunks aren't loaded."
Both players are alive at the start of the next day, and no death shows on screen. There's no final villager count or judging on screen. The two stand on the tower until the end card, which thanks Friar Nurgle and Michael Deering, and nothing plays after it.
