Day two of Underground, Michael Deering's February 2014 challenge, picks up where day one left off: Team MaBaSteeSco is below ground on the GopherCraft server, and it has to stay there. They start with a quick roll call, since "we never introduced ourselves in the first episode," and then a count of what came down from the surface.
Iron for everyone
The iron count is better than anyone expected. "I have 48." "Holy crap." The problem is the furnaces, because there are only two. Basket feeds iron into them while more get built, and food gets counted too: "I've got almost two stacks of potatoes. I've got a half a stack of carrots. I've got 18 pieces of wheat." The carrots and potatoes are for later. "We also need to get trees growin' soon, guys."
Suiting up
The ingots turn into armor. "I made a chest plate for each of us and nobody make any more chest plates." Buckets come next, for an infinite water spring. Dirt is on the list too: "If we see dirt, grab it, guys." Not everyone gets a full set. "I didn't get any boots." "Basket, you took his boots." "You thief." Still, the mood is good. "We're doing super great for day two." "I guess that village really did help us."
The creeper shaft
In their iron, the team heads back to "that big shaft with the creeper at the bottom." It opens into a cavern with water and lava. "Everything happened at once." "Okay, I got 40 torches, guys." The team lights its way across. "Well, here's our new home, folks."
The shaft is deep. "There's a creeper straight below you. Just don't fall." Basket comes face to face with a creeper in a side cave. A few minutes later a shout comes from a grotto: "Anybody dead?" "Uh, almost. There's a zombie here." No death line shows in the chat.
Redstone for a clock
Somebody keeps calling out the time ("We're at eight minutes"), and somebody wants a clock. "Is there any redstone? 'Cause I'd like a clock, please." The talk turns to a Nether portal, and someone points out that "the Nether's underground." The lava pool under their new home gets cleared ("I'm rid of all the lava"), and its floor turns to dark obsidian with furnaces along the edge. "Two creepers, two creepers!" "They walked right past it, the jerks." Basket digs out dirt, then finds redstone ore and smelts a gold ingot. "Did you want to make a clock? Because I only get three gold." "I'm the timekeeper."
Kicked
Late in the session, the chat shows Max_Writer leaving the game and joining again. "I just got kicked." "Oh man, I saw that, I thought you died." Max_Writer earns the Benchmarking and Getting an Upgrade achievements right after.
Time runs out at the 19-minute mark. "We should probably quit." One last question: "Has anybody made a clock yet?" "Yeah, I've got it. We have to come back and get it, though." Basket ends day two alive, and no death line or death screen shows anywhere in the episode. The end card follows, with nothing after it.
