Day eight is the last day of Underground, Michael Deering's February 2014 challenge. Team MaBaSteeSco starts it with cured villagers in the base and a trade nobody can use yet. The trading window offers a leather tunic for an emerald. "If we gave him a leather tunic, he'd give us emeralds."
One more cure
The team wants more. "Do we want to keep any more zombie villagers?" Basket goes out into the caves for gold, gets close to a creeper on the way and comes back fine: "I made it, I'm good." The gold goes into another golden apple at the bench.
Back at the cells, Basket throws a splash potion of weakness at a zombie villager in a fence-post cell, then uses the golden apple on it.
The cured villagers end up in minecarts inside a small wooden house. Not all of them want to go. "This guy won't go in the cart." Later a new face shows up among them: "It's a priest! Ooh, eight gold for an emerald." That sends everyone back out: "Everybody go get gold."
Swiftness and name tags
Basket's brewing stand switches from weakness to speed. The tooltips show a Potion of Swiftness and then a Splash Potion of Swiftness, and a Speed timer starts showing in Basket's inventory.
Then come the name tags. "We have two name tags." Naming takes levels at the anvil, so the zombie tunnel gets worked for experience. "Come on, you jerks, come at me." Basket types a name into the anvil, and before the day is out two of the villagers in the carts wear name tags.
Secret Base of the Nether Stars
The house gets a sign, and the title of the episode comes from it. "Secret base of the Nether Stars."
There is time left over for fishing poles. Enchanting one does not go to plan: "Why can't I enchant this fishing pole?" The verdict: "Something's broke on this server. I blame you, Basket!" The fishing goes better. "I got a salmon."
Morning on day eight
Then a look back at the month. "We cured three villagers. We named two of them. We built a secret base of the nether stars. We have two zombie spawners out of three turned into a dual grinder." There is also the brewing stand, nether wart from the trip to the Nether, an enchanting table, an anvil and a jukebox. And for food: "We planted this garden and we haven't touched it."
A clock settles it. "It's morning, daylight outside." Then: "We're officially after day eight. We survived." The four line up in front of the house.
One last bang
With day eight done, the TNT comes out. Basket puts TNT in under the villagers' minecarts while the team decides where to stand. "This was not my idea, and I'm appalled, but I will watch."
The first call is "They both lived," and then the correction: "No, one died." After that, zombies from the spawners get loose among the villagers. "They're coming this way. This is making it more interesting."
