Day seven of Underground, Michael Deering's February 2014 challenge, opens with some bragging from the team: "We've made a dual spawner. I bet nobody else in the challenge has." The spawners have a new job today. Some of the zombies coming out of them are zombie villagers, and the plan is to turn them back.
Sorting the zombies
The first problem is telling them apart. "It's hard to tell who or what they are." "Can you see which ones are villagers?" The trap gets a change so a zombie can be held in place: "Can we replace that with fence post?"
Basket gets a job too. "Make some potions, Basket!" The brewing stand by the nether wart patch turns out a Potion of Weakness, and later an Awkward Potion sits in it, with a plan to "take awkward and add a fermented spider eye to it." In between, Basket uses bone meal on a sapling and chops at the underground tree for leaves and apples.
A golden apple
A weakness potion is only half of a cure. The other half is a golden apple, and Basket crafts one at the bench: eight gold ingots around an apple.
The zombie villagers end up in narrow cells behind fence posts, and splash potions of weakness come out. Not every throw lands where it should. "Oh, I got hit by a freaking potion. I'm all whipped now."
Waiting for the change
Then comes the wait. "Is he gonna change yet?" "Takes like an hour." Talk turns to adding more cells and fence gates so more zombies can be pushed in. Food is running low too: "I'm out of pork." "Where's cooked potatoes?"
Then it happens. "The guy changed. Did you guys hear that?" "He's a farmer. Should I let him out?"
Getting the farmer out
Getting a villager out of a zombie trap is harder than getting a zombie in. Cobblestone walls go up so it can't run off into a cave. Water goes down to push it along, and that fails: "It doesn't flow down in there." The fix is blunt. "Why don't we just destroy the trapdoor?" A moment later: "He's down." The villager walks out into the base past Steel_Douglas.
The team already has its eye on the next one: "If we can get another villager that gives us emeralds." More zombie villagers turn up in the cells, and another round of splash potions goes in.
Morning, and one more on the slab
"It's almost morning." The enchanting table gets one more use. "Anybody have a bunch of levels to enchant this pickaxe?" "I have eleven." The result is not much: "Unbreaking 1 is what I got you. I'm sorry."
The second cure is already underway. "OK, we have another villager on the slab." Then the call: "We need to call this episode, though, don't we?" All four finish day seven alive, with no death line or death screen in the episode. The credits roll, and nothing comes after them.
