Day six of Underground, Michael Deering's February 2014 challenge, starts with a plan for the zombie spawners. The team wants a kill room, and the question is how big. "Four, five by like 30." "How high?" "Three high."
Digging the kill room
Basket and Scoti_Garbidis set out from the obsidian floor of the lava cavern and start tunneling. Zombies can be heard on every side. "Gosh, I hear so much badness." Part of the plan already has a problem. Somebody forgot a piece of a redstone elevator, and it is "totally screwed up." The fix on offer is not perfect: "Can you just kind of fake it so it works well enough?"
Supplies are short too. "I still don't have torches." "I don't have a crafting bench, I don't have any wood, and I just broke my pick." Basket mines a vein of redstone next to a lava pool along the way.
Twenty-two blocks is not enough
The strange noise from last time comes back over the voice chat. "Slenderman." Then the tunnel gets counted out loud, block by block, up to the end. "It's only 22 long, we got to go farther." Basket switches to the diamond pickaxe and keeps going. Somebody finds lava instead of sand. At the end, the plan is to seal it up: "We'll let it be dark in there and then we'll come back and check it later." On the way back, a zombie wades through the water in a side tunnel.
An enchanting table
Back at the base by the spawners, the books come out. "Don't we have like 20 some books in there?" A count of the bookshelves follows ("6. Only 6, okay"), and then the math on the enchanting table. "17, I think it's gonna be the max." The table goes down inside a ring of bookshelves.
"I think I'm gonna do a little bit on all my gear." Basket's iron leggings come out with Protection I, and the experience bar drops from level 25 all the way to 1.
Zombies in the trap, and a group shot
Nothing spawns in the new room at first. "It should be activating." Then: "Nope, there it goes." "There's a zombie kid already." The warning is simple: "Just do not break these blocks behind this wall, because that's all that's between us and zombies." A moment later: "Can you hear the little zombies dying?"
The jukebox gets music disc 13 first, then a request: "Put cat on. Cat's so much better." Then everyone lines up. "Come over here, guys. We can do a group shot here next to our bounty."
The potion project
The rest of the night is chest sorting. "Oh my gosh, how is this chest full again?" The glass matters now. "We want to use all the glass for potions, right?" Basket opens the brewing stand with water bottles in it, and a chest holds more. The nether wart planted last time has grown into a thick red patch.
Apples are short too: "We need to start going on this tree so we can get more apples. We've only got one apple." Then the call comes: "It's morning, guys. Let's finish up for now." All four finish day six alive, with no death line or death screen in the episode. The credits roll, and nothing comes after them.
