King of Pig Island Prank: GopherCraft SMP S1 Episode 13

  • Published on

Episode 13 opens with the INVERSION logo and a card reading "Episode 00, Uncompleted Prank": footage from the Inversion server of a prank Basket never finished. The King of Pig Island at the heart of it was first talked about on voice in Inversion Server Episode 15. After about twenty minutes the GopherCraft SMP intro rolls, then a second title card: "Episode 13, Pig Island Prank Reborn."

A lonely king

At night, Basket slips into another player's base on what Basket says is known as Pig Island, because when its owner first logged in "there weren't any bad guys, there were just a bunch of pigs." Inside a stone cathedral, a zombie pigman with a sword stands in an iron bar cage, its nameplate reading "King of Pig Island." Basket thinks it is "actually angry because he's lonely. So I am getting him some friends."

The friends are in a staging area dug under the cathedral floor: a glass-roofed pen of pigs bred up with carrots. "200 and some isn't really enough," so Basket breeds more, and the count reaches 261.

Plan A, B, C or D

The plan is a water elevator to carry the pigs up into the cathedral. A test pig pulled out with a fishing rod rises fine. With all of them let loose, the result is "two, two whole pigs." Basket swims in with an axe to break out a few blocks, digs a staircase, and tries to lead them up it. "This is the most poorly planned prank I've ever seen."

Next come leads, crafted from slime and string. The pigs still will not climb the ladder. "Worst plan ever." The fallback is to breed pigs in a glass pen up in the cathedral and just tell the owner about the rest underneath. The Inversion footage ends with pigs breeding under the glass.

Reborn on GopherCraft

Back on GopherCraft, Basket explains that the first part was the attempt "in the previous server we used to play on together, the Inversion server," and that the mini pigs prank is getting a second try at the same player's camp. First, Basket uncovers supply chests hidden there over the past week, including a large chest of Splash Potions of Harming ("in case of emergency instant kill stuff").

The build moves from a small pond to a bigger lake by the camp's archery range, because "a king of Pig Island should have an island on a lake."

A sped-up build follows: a giant pink wool pig rises on a dirt island in the lake. Inside, pigs breed in a chamber high in the body. The floor is what Basket calls "a Jeb door or two of them," turned to open downward: six pistons on each side pull the bottom away, and a second set on a delay pushes the pink wool back flat.

Booked a flight

The finished pig wears a white crown, and Basket circles it to show off the little tail at the back.

A giant pink wool pig wearing a white crown stands on a dark dirt island in a blue lake, with a wooden beam reaching in at the top left, forest and grassland behind, and a small figure in diamond armor in the water beside the island

At its feet, three signs over a lever read: "Scoti, The King of Pig Island heard about Camp Scoti and wanted to pay a visit. I booked him a flight. Enjoy your new campers. -BasketMC." Pull the lever and, in theory, "like 200 pigs are dropped down into this water. Most survive."

Basket reroutes the redstone so it stays powered even without the lever, tests the signal, and steps back: "Now it is armed, so I will not mess with it." Pink carpet goes over hidden glowstone on the pig's back. The prank is not sprung on camera. The episode ends with Basket's character standing on the pig's back beside the crown and two hatches, with more pigs still to breed. The end card runs to the last frame.
