Episode 6 is the last of three RainCloud SMP videos called "Mob Sorter." Last time Basket and Scoti_Garbidis got the spider stage working under their sky farm. This time they build the stage after it, which needs animals they don't have yet. By the end two landing levels are in, ringed with trapdoors, and the next job is finding a villager.
This part works
The episode opens with the two of them looking up at the farm. "Here comes a creeper." Then a skeleton. "Still waiting for a spider to spawn." Spider or not, "this part at least works." One of them goes to light up the "death pit."
A villager, cats and dogs
"The next parts, they don't really make much sense without our cool bits, but we can build them without the cool bits." The plan is a three by three landing pad a couple of blocks below the hole, with a villager kept on one side next to a cat and a dog. Zombies will head for the villager and fall into a pit with lava in it. Creepers and skeletons will run from the cats and dogs the other way, into a second pit. "It's pretty ingenious," one of them says. A later stage splits the creepers from the skeletons.
Trapdoors that look like floor
The pits get covered in trapdoors. The idea, as one of them understands it, is that mobs "see the trapdoors as full blocks," so they think they have a long space to run away in and don't just jump in "out of confusion." That means a lot more trapdoors than first planned, and some confusion until it clicks. "I understand why it was confusing." A row of glass goes in so they can watch, but trapdoors won't go on glass. "I think it has to be a regular block."
The second layer
Below that goes the landing for the creepers and skeletons, three by four, with another stretch of fake floor for them to run toward. Creepers come after them while they work. "It'll be fine." Then a catch: with the cat and dog where they are, the creeper and skeleton would run the wrong way, "which means we actually need the pits facing this direction." The pits get turned. Cobblestone runs short, and one of them fills in the glass "so at the very least, we've got crowd control going on." Redstone to open the trapdoors for maintenance comes up too, but it could cause "light pollution," so that waits.
Where it ends
"We've got those two spawning pads in." One of them wonders if the drop should have been longer, since the next stage is getting the skeletons to shoot "through the creepers." Everything after this "is fairly customizable." First they need a villager, and they know where a zombie spawner is from their caving. Catching up with the other players waits for next time.
