Episode 3 of BlackBelt UHC opens deep underground, where Episode 2 left off. The title card reads "BlackBelt UHC Feb 2017, Episode 3." The server has already posted its 40 minute mark and "Shrink | Activated," so the border is on the move. Basket is still on the red team with Subek1969.
No voice, then a voice
The voice call is still down for the red team when the episode starts. In chat, BasketMC writes "we're too good anyway," and Scoti_Garbidis answers, "they are using hand signals to communicate." A couple of minutes later the call is back, and the two compare gear. "I'm fully ironed for armor," a voice says, with an iron pickaxe as well. Anything else they can make from the spare iron is fair game.
The first player out
Around five minutes in, chat posts the first death of the match: "Scoti_Garbidis was blown up by Creeper." BasketMC and BlackBeltCrafter type "gg," and johnfal_92 adds "ouch!!!!" Scoti_Garbidis writes back, "i was able to respawn right by my stuff," and then, "spectator though." BlackBeltCrafter replies, "yup enjoy the show!" That leaves JJBonsig alone on the blue team, which Scoti_Garbidis points out a few minutes later: "JJBonsig has earned playing alone."
Diamond level
Meanwhile the red team keeps digging down and reaches a cave with lava pooled across the floor and redstone in the walls. Chat shows johnfal_92 earning "Diamonds to you!", so the white team has diamonds. Diamond ore shows up here too, in the wall above the lava. A voice admits it is "not the correct number that we need. Not even close." Basket carries a water bucket and mines around the edges of the lava, and patches of black obsidian sit next to the lava.
Back at the furnaces, Basket smelts what the pair has dug up, and Subek1969 comes down the torch-lit tunnel in iron armor.
The border arrives
Then a voice asks, "Is my screen reddish?" The answer is yes: the border has reached them, coming in from the side. The plan changes on the spot. They will stair-step up and away from it. The climb is not smooth. Gravel drops on one of them for half a heart. A little later one gets squeezed by the wall, ends up behind it for a moment, and digs back through for another half heart.
Out under the moon
The shaft breaks out onto a snowy hilltop, and it is night. A voice points out "lots of bad guys," and a zombie shows up nearby. A voice says they need apples, so the plan is to head away from the corner, look for oak trees, and grab some sugar cane on the way.
When Basket checks the Tab list, five players still have hearts next to their names: a blue name cut off at the top of the list, then BlackBeltCrafter, johnfal_92, BasketMC and Subek1969. Scoti_Garbidis is grayed out at the bottom. The server posts "UHC BLOX | Mark | 60 Minutes," and the episode ends with Basket alive on the surface, beside a river.
