The team cards and the "Season One GopherCraft UHC" title roll, and Episode 8 picks up right where the last one stopped: at spawn, beside the Nether portal the team trapped with lava. "We are still here playing the waiting game." Th3pooka, optimus1971 and 1minnyE are on the other side, and the question is whether they brought enough obsidian, or a diamond pickaxe, to build a way out somewhere else.
Waiting at the portal
The anvil goes down near the portal, behind a double wall. Basket sorts through books and finds Power I. "Ooh, I can make a power two bow." In chat, optimus1971 writes "we've mastered the fireswamps" and "we can live ehre forever," and BasketMC answers "congrats!"
Th3pooka comes through
Then: "What is it? What is it?" Th3pooka steps out into the lava, and chat reads "Th3pooka was slain by PsychoSFK." The gg lines follow, and then "Th3pooka left the game."
"That's the one thing I did not expect," Basket says: coming through even though the portal was trapped. A teammate explains the sword hit landed while Th3pooka was already in the lava. The team scoops up the lava source block long enough to reach the head, then puts the lava back.
A stalemate
"We're kind of at a stalemate, because we can't really go in, and they can't come out." One idea is to be sporting about it: untrap the portal, back off, and let the other team come out to fight. Nobody acts on it yet. Scoti_Garbidis joins the game and leaves again. In chat, optimus1971 says it's "not a good time," 1minnyE says things are "Pretty bad," and optimus1971 adds "having a major issue here." BasketMC asks, "the pigmen mad?"
Basket's bow is half worn out and the repair needs levels Basket doesn't have, so it's off to hunt mobs around spawn for XP. Eventually: "There we go, level 9." Later, Basket mentions carrying 38 iron.
Who goes in
The Tab list shows five names: lostinthefort, BasketMC and PsychoSFK, plus optimus1971 at 46 and 1minnyE at 14. "Who's left?" "Just those two." So far, every kill for the team has gone to PsychoSFK.
Night comes, and the plan is to send someone through to test the waters, without the lava, in case they die. The report comes back: "they're out there at the portal," and it's trapped. Nobody is keen to go first. The new plan is to wait for dawn and send lostinthefort in first.
Glass houses
While they wait, BasketMC asks in chat whether the other team found anything cool in the Nether. 1minnyE: "Yep!" optimus1971: "AHHHHH!!!!" When 1minnyE asks "So, having fun?", BasketMC answers "yeah, building a house." optimus1971 says they've already done that, 1minnyE calls it a "Glass house ;)", and optimus1971 finishes the joke: "yup, and throwing stones."
The sun comes up, arrows get handed back, and "160 MINUTES" shows in the corner. "Next episode might be the last one." Basket is alive at the portal with lostinthefort and PsychoSFK when the credits roll.
