The episode opens on the server's "End of Day 1" message, with all sixteen players still listed, and a title card that reads "Episode 2, Mineshaft." Basket is still underground and still without a teammate. The plan was to get back to the surface, but first a little more iron.
A creeper in the tunnel
The digging breaks into a mineshaft. "Oh god, a mineshaft. That's terrifying and awesome." Then a creeper shows up at the end of the tunnel, and Basket has no blocks on the hotbar to wall it off. "I gotta go, gotta go. I'll come back to this."
Back at the furnaces, chat is busy. TopStiGear asks "are you allowed to strip mine?" and Basket answers "yes, just boring." ty750 then posts a location with "Come find me!" MomofMiners asks "i thought we couldn't post coords???" and Basket replies that you can't, assuming it was a joke. ty750 confirms: "yes." Basket makes a note of where the mineshaft is and heads up.
Nobody on the surface
Up top it's daytime and a forest. The mission now is to find somebody. "It's really much more difficult without a teammate, even just having somebody to talk to." Basket collects food and feathers on the way, gets confused by a rabbit, and earns the Cow Tipper achievement. A look at the Tab list shows AngryK9 low on health, and AngryK9 later writes in chat "I am almost dead. So I am bad luck!"
A big lake gives a long view, but nobody is in it. "What if everybody's under the ground still?" Not quite. ty750 is up here somewhere, writing "I feel so out of place. I am a cave rat out of a cave." The sun starts to set, and Basket also realizes the mineshaft isn't far from the border. So it's back to the mineshaft before night.
Clearing the mineshaft
This time Basket brings blocks. The creeper seems to be gone. Basket digs in, closes off every opening overhead and checks each hallway before walking down it. "Sorry if I'm giving you motion sickness." A minecart with a chest holds iron ingots and melon seeds, which could come in handy later. String goes in the inventory too, partly for a future teammate.
Chat sounds just as lonely. MomofMiners types song lyrics about searching for a partner, Sayulily writes "Lonely~ I'm mr. lonely~" and erynfaith adds "same here." Gopherboy writes "So much lava it sounds like Im in a hot tub." Down in the tunnels, Basket smelts iron and crafts a chestplate and boots.
End of Day 2
Deeper in, a spider sits in a gap between the stone blocks. "Are you a regular spider? Yes. That's doable." The next stretch looks worse. "This is a dangerous..."
ty750 writes "there will be a blood bath," and the server posts "End of Day 2. Players remaining:" with all sixteen names, BasketMC included. optimus1971 and pulse2010 are the two names shown in green. "Nobody else is fighting each other. That's crazy." Basket is alive, still alone, and deep in the mineshaft when the episode ends.
