Episode 3 picks up at the top of the crane where Episode 2 left off, still dark, with the team about to head for the middle of the map. The video opens on the same "GopherCraft UHC Season 5" title and six team cards as before, with no episode number. Basket, pikerize and xzosimusx are still together as Rooftop Raiders.
Down the ladder
The climb down goes badly. A skeleton and a zombie are waiting on the roof and in the street, and someone takes a hit on the way down the ladder. A minute later xzosimusx's nameplate reads 10 Health, half of full. The plan is to get away from the area and follow the split highway toward the center. There are creepers everywhere, and the team walks around them instead of fighting.
Gold for apples
The first stop is a fast-food restaurant. "Unfortunately, they're not made with real golden arches," someone jokes. The chests there and in the houses nearby give up gold ingots and nuggets, a half-broken iron chestplate, chain leggings and a helmet that will break on the first hit.
The gold matters most. With two apples in hand, the team crafts golden apples and hands them to the teammate who is hurt. One of them is surprised it only gives back about two hearts. A teammate explains that it is a short burst of regeneration plus two absorption hearts for two minutes, so the trick is to eat one right before a fight. By sunset xzosimusx's nameplate is back up to 14 Health. Basket gets a golden apple to carry "just in case."
Lava at the gas station
Out by a row of gas stations someone finds a pool of lava and fills a bucket, then grabs water too, a way to get down from buildings in a hurry. In chat, Sayulily asks "You guys all being diggy dwarves?" Virii333 answers "nope... remodeling our summer home." Open chat also shows the server's "40 Minutes" roll call. It lists seventeen players, and Steel_Douglas is no longer one of them. "Actually doing a UHC without spending any episodes digging is very nice," someone says.
The middle of the city
The team reaches the center of the map: a big square building with the command blocks floating in the sky beside it. Nobody has more than one gunpowder, so the idea of setting traps goes nowhere. The red names worry them. "The red sticks out like a sore thumb," someone says, though the bright green names of another team helped them spot rivals earlier. With the sun going down, they pick a house in a neighborhood off the center, killing a rabbit on the way.
The house next door
Inside, someone spots three names to the west. They are not sneaking, so their names show, and they are in a building with a big lit window. From the color the team guesses it is the purple team. The server's player list prints Gopherboy, Th3pooka and Moonwillow92 in purple. Basket's team stays crouched, breaks everything in its own house for loot, and watches through the windows: one upstairs, two on the first floor, then all three downstairs.
The plan is to attack right before morning, while the other team gets ready to leave. First they pool their gold for more golden apples and come up one nugget short. A hidden chest turns up behind a wall, and there is enough for one more.
Then the chat speaks up. Sayulily writes "Heya Neighbors! Nice roof!" and Th3pooka writes "hi there 0.o". None of the team had stopped sneaking, so it is not clear how they were seen. The sun is coming up as the episode ends. Basket is alive in the house with a golden apple on the hotbar, and the attack has not started.
