Episode 5 opens with the "GopherCraft UHC 8" title and the seven team cards, with no episode number. Team Citrus Sensation is back on the surface, sorting out gear. The anvil has gone missing from someone's hands ("what happened, the anvil's gone?"), and Basket is asked to bring the enchanting table along.
Two players in the open
While the team hunts for chickens and string for arrows, someone spots a player across the meadow. Then a second one. The team crouches in the grass and tries to work out who it is. "Okay, can we tell what team it is yet?" The answer comes back: "yellow, it's Optimus." The other two start building a small fort, and both sides know they have been seen.
pikerize and PsychoSFK move up the hillside while the first arrows fly.
The pair drop into a hole in the ground and pop out again somewhere else. "They had an exit plan." The team just follows them on the surface.
PsychoSFK wins it
Chat settles it: "optimus1971 was slain by PsychoSFK," and soon after, "n1bblonian was slain by PsychoSFK." Both were on the Yella Belly team card. A row of "gg" fills chat from around the server, BasketMC included. Someone on voice calls it the first PvP kill of the match.
Going through the loot
The team digs through what the two dropped: a lava bucket, a water bucket, redstone, string, a bow and nine feathers. Nothing is enchanted, and there is no gold. "Wish they would have had any gold." The arrows get split between the three of them, two bows get combined at the anvil into Power II, and golden apples get counted. The spare gear goes into chests by the water.
On the way out, some lava goes down next to a tree and sets it on fire. "Hindsight 20/20, it only took a heart."
Back to spawn
The team turns back toward the middle of the map. They pass through a wide field at dusk.
At spawn they find the bedrock and the spectator seats. The plan is to dig in nearby, so they stair-step down into the ground. Shaman_ asks in chat whether anyone wants a new teammate, and MomofMiners suggests "join rePete." Nobody has seen the border move yet: "I have a feeling without the borders this is gonna drag on."
Gold and diamonds
Underground, a lava pool opens up with gold and lapis next to it. The gold is enough for another golden apple, and someone admits to having one crafting table too many. "I think I stole somebody's." Basket keeps mining redstone along the lava's edge, and right at the end diamond ore shows up in the floor.
"Diamonds at a commercial break." The server posts "Mark 100 Minutes, End of Episode 5" and lists 13 current players. Basket ends the episode alive, at full health, underground.
