Last time the secret hatch in the Fal Inn roof finally worked, but only off a lever, and Basket left it open to avoid getting locked out. This stream is about the part that was missing: a button on each side that opens the door and closes it again. It takes almost the whole hour.
The observer gets a second chance
Last episode the observer block got set aside. Now Basket thinks it could make a much smaller T flip-flop than the hopper version, so it's back to the test world first. Then it's onto the server to craft one from quartz, cobblestone and redstone. "They point away from where you place it."
The trouble shows up on the first button press. The observer sees the button turn on and also turn off, so the door closes as fast as it opens. "That was what I was worried about." Switching to a stone button doesn't help. "It's still too long."
A timer, then a flip-flop again
Basket asks the chat for ideas. A viewer suggests keeping the door shut and having the button open it for a moment. That points to an Etho timer, with hoppers and comparators, and it's six blocks long. "So pretty tight." But a door with a button on each side still needs something that flips no matter which button is pressed. "I'll still need a T flip-flop."
Edge detectors
So it's back to the observer, this time with an edge detector. In the test world Basket works it out: a sticky piston shoves a block up past the observer, which sends one short pulse and nothing on the way back. It stands three blocks tall. "I didn't design this building around this contraption."
A viewer asks whether the piston could push down instead. Basket tries it, and it doesn't work. "Who would have thought." The whole contraption moves over one block, a little further into the room, to be hidden later.
Breaking the door that worked
Along the way the hatch itself stops working. "This was working yesterday." Basket goes back to the lever and finds one repeater on a single tick that should be on full delay. With everything back in place it closes, opens, closes and opens again. "So what we've learned today, class," is that powering the parts next to it first makes one line fire a little late.
Then everything slides back one block toward the wall, which leaves room for a platform. There's a button outside and one inside. Hit it, the roof opens, step through, hit it again, and everything closes. "We're on the home stretch. It only took us the entire stream."
Hiding the machine
The space around the pistons is dark enough for mobs to spawn, so Basket works in glowstone to light it. Glass goes into the window next to the hatch, with stairs underneath as a seat to look out over the bay. "If you're a super cool secret spy, you can click on this, go through here." Basket runs one pane short. The beams get swapped for the darker wood to match the wall.
The rest of the space becomes the owner's rooms, for whoever owns both the inn and the tavern. The bedroom may get a secret door with its button in a different room, so anyone who finds the door still can't open it. A bed goes in. Basket isn't sure about the walls built from the roof material, and might swap them all out.
The roof door now works from a button on both sides, and the machine is mostly covered up. The owner's living room is still to come. The video ends on the credits, with no gameplay after them.
