Last time the library got a roof so tall it blocked the neighbors' view, and Basket promised dormers to break it up. This stream delivers them, then moves on to the railing upstairs and the big end wall under the roof. Dirt is still standing in for books.
Copying the dormer next door
Before building anything, Basket goes back through the secret roof entrance next door to look at a dormer already built there. It's seven blocks across: three panes of glass, a solid block on each side, the roof sticking out over it and a slab on top.
Up on the library roof, Basket counts the slope at 25 blocks. Two seven-wide dormers would leave 11 to spare, and after some counting out loud (and a quick check in Excel) they go in lined up with the windows below. The first one gets a bone block base, glass panes and dark oak stairs climbing over it. The darker blocks around the window get swapped for bone blocks so there's a white rim, and a piece on top comes off because it looks better without it. "See, that makes it look better."
Running out of dark oak
The same pattern repeats for the next dormer and on the other side of the roof, mostly by counting rows from the bottom: "three and then a block." Basket builds from inside the roof where there's nothing to place against outside, fixes stairs that went in facing the wrong way, and runs out of dark oak partway through. Some turns up in a chest. Slabs run short too, so more get crafted.
Inside, dirt goes in along the walls under the dormers as placeholder bookshelves. A spruce fence railing goes around the open upper floor. "I never remember the pattern." For now torches sit on the fence posts, with a chandelier planned for the middle later.
The end wall, twice
The end of the roof needs a wall. Basket starts with support pillars and a crossbeam, steps back, and doesn't like it. "It's like too much... too big of a wall." The pillars move further in, the windows get rearranged, and the bone blocks run out partway through.
A viewer suggests an accent block in place of the little window at the top. Basket tries it. "Yes, in fact, that does look pretty cool." Then the dirt placeholder books go in along the bottom of the wall, and with those in, the plain wall stops bothering Basket. The window goes back. Mining it out with a silk touch pickaxe somehow loses the glass anyway. "I don't really understand what happened."
A name on the door
With the stream wrapping up, Basket puts a sign by the front door: "JJ Booksig Library." It's a play on a player's name, the same kind of joke as the Fal buildings. There may be a second door on the far side once the road there is worked out. Basket asks the viewers for a cleverer name and says this one stays otherwise.
The library still needs real books, the chandelier and the work at the road corner. The video ends on the credits, with no gameplay after them.
