Episode 53 opens on top of the slime farm with a report that it still isn't right: the big slimes don't fall in. Since the last stream Basket has added glass around the side and a new path with a platform, all off camera. A big slime spawns and Basket watches it hop around. It can get down into the pit, but whether it drowns "depends on what side he runs against." That one gets left for later. Today is about paths.
Counting stairs
The paths are the same stone slabs and sea lanterns as last time, stepping down in a two, three, two, three pattern, with long flat runs of six or seven blocks before each turn. Basket checks the height with F3 and stops each ramp at Y 30. The counting gets mixed up more than once. "Am I saying like the opposite numbers every time I do this?"
Down near the bottom, the corners that were left cut out from the dig have been filled in by another player. "I actually didn't even notice it, that's how well it blends." Fresh sea lanterns turned up in the chests too.
Arrows from above
Mobs keep dropping through the farm while Basket works, and not all of them die on the way down. "I knew somebody was gonna shoot me." Basket has no bow, lost "in the great slime incident" and never replaced. "Don't shoot me! Don't shoot me!" It's still fun to watch. "I'm just like hanging out and watching all these things fall and die."
A viewer asks about marking the submerged chests in the ring so people know what's in them. Item frames can't go in water, and a sign pushes the water out of the block, "so it looks stupid." No answer yet.
Running out of lanterns
By about the 43-minute mark the paths go all the way around. "Look at that. So much progress." The sea lanterns run out first, so a few spots get torches for now. The ladder stays as a shortcut, but Basket plans to remove it eventually "in favor of making people walk."
A portal at the bottom
Then a new idea. The base has a huge ring of storage and only so many farms. What if other farms could send their items through the Nether, in hopper minecarts, to a portal at the very bottom of this base, where the items would ride the elevator up and get sorted? Basket admits it is just making the project bigger. A viewer jokes the farm will never be done. "That's possible."
Basket lays an obsidian frame on the bedrock floor and pulls the hoppers out of an old chain to run under it. Most of them get sucked into the system instead: "So we got six." A bit more breaking brings it to ten.
Digging to Y 7
Basket divides the coordinates by eight and goes into the Nether. The regular portal sits at Y 79, so the new one has to go much lower. Basket digs down slowly, always standing on two blocks, past a lava lake, with no bow. At Y 7 the new portal goes in. Then the test: the old portals up top still have to link to each other and not to the new one. They do. "Excellent, we are at the top."
Next time
For the next session Basket wants ramps down on the last two sides, a style for the bottom platforms, and a decision on the beacons, which might move to Basketopia instead. The big slimes are still a problem, but "this works for the most part." The video ends on the credits, with no gameplay after them.
