Cleaning Up Iron Farm Design: Team B.S. Server Episode 60

  • Published on

Episode 60 starts where the last one stopped, at the bottom of the iron farm base. The paths are moved, the ladders are in, and Basket is down to the finishing work. "We're working on some final touches to the Iron Farm."

Quartz and a higher edge

First up is a spot on the path that still needs quartz. Basket only needs two quartz slabs, so it's a quick run upstairs and back. While down there, Basket raises an edge up by one block at each of the four spots, hoping it stops the shooting. "As they're falling they might still shoot, but that might be enough to make it so they don't shoot otherwise."

Closing off the side passages

Where the paths run into the wall, the passages were never styled. Basket gathers sea lanterns, white stained glass and signs, and works out the pattern by counting, "one, two, three." Sea lanterns go along the edges, white glass in between, and smooth stone fills the back wall. Smooth stone runs short, but a cave turns up right there to dig from. Torches go behind the stone so nothing spawns, and the rest gets covered so it can't be seen from underneath. "So now that's how it looks."

Then the same job on the other side. Basket builds it so there's never a gap an iron golem could fall through mid-work, and adds a ladder at the bottom so anyone who falls can climb out. Sea lanterns run out, which means a run to the ocean monument base for more. By about 26 minutes in, "both these two sides are good to go."

The beacons come down

The beacons were going to move. Now they're just going. "I might as well take them with me to the next build." Basket says they'll end up in Basketopia. To clear inventory space, the spare items get thrown over the edge into the sorting system, and the beacons go into the ender chest. Then Basket grabs sea lanterns and slabs to fix a couple of stairs up there.

Copying the slime platform

Only one corner of the base sits on a slime chunk, so only one platform actually works as a slime farm. Basket wants the other corners to look the same anyway. "There's no slimes actually gonna spawn here because these aren't slime chunks, but I'm just doing this to be symmetrical." The copies get everything except the hopper minecarts.

Copying the pattern takes a lot of counting. Dark prismarine rings each spot, sea lanterns sit in the middle, and orange blocks go out to the sides, the kind "where you get it wet it turns into cement." Regular prismarine fills the rest. Blocks run out fast, so Basket heads to the guardian farm and crafts more prismarine there.

Then the pits go in, a two-block drop down to magma. Basket shares a trick for working on it: hold shift and the magma doesn't burn you. Torches go down below so nothing spawns, and the walls are built up around it.

One corner done

By the end, one copied corner matches the original. One side got a small change so fewer things get stuck, and Basket wants to copy that to the others later "so it's all symmetrical." That's the end of the session, and the credits follow with no gameplay after them.
