Finishing Iron Farm Pads: Team B.S. Server Episode 61

  • Published on

Episode 61 opens back at the iron farm base, watching the slime farm do its job, or try to. A slime picks a corner that's hard to fill in and walks along a ledge Basket never planned for. "I didn't think about that when I was designing this thing." It goes in eventually. The big one takes a while to die on the magma, then the medium and small ones go quicker. "So it's not a very high performance slime farm."

Where things stand

One copy of the slime platform was built last stream. "It doesn't function at all, but it looks the same." The beacons are gone from the base and are headed for Basketopia. The bottom platforms are done, and a teleporter through the nether can drop items here to ride the item elevator up. What's left is cleanup and the last two platforms. A stray torch on the side of a building comes off first. "Solved."

Some of the outer railings come out too, since they don't have room to run all the way around. The inside ones stay. "It is not a OSHA compliant base."

Four high, everywhere

Two of the water columns go all the way to the top and the others stop short. Basket counts the short one, "one, two, three," and decides all of them should be four high, building from the top down so the water behaves. A sponge cleans up the water that pours the wrong way. "All uniform, right? Yep, good." The wet sponges go in a furnace to dry.

Copying the pattern

Next is the floor pattern from the slime platform: a two by two of sea lanterns in the middle, dark prismarine around it, orange in the corners. Basket goes back and forth between the original and the copy to get it right. "Where does it start? That's the pattern, but where does it actually begin? Ah, it's matching the corner."

The dark prismarine runs out fast. A viewer points to ink sacs in the miscellaneous chests of the storage ring, and a trip through the nether to the Guardian farm brings back more blocks. Basket says another player built that farm elsewhere on the server. Then the orange concrete powder runs short. Searching the crafting book for "orange" turns up nothing, until a viewer explains it takes gravel and sand, plus dye. "Wonder why when I search for orange it didn't show up."

The long way around

For anyone new, Basket gives the tour again: four iron farms in the corners, boxes where hostile mobs spawn and drop into water, and a ring of sorted chests under the water. The place is Iron Island. The farms were hidden under the ocean, the island above got its dirt swapped for iron blocks, and the whole thing kept growing down to bedrock. It all started because the library in Basketopia needed books, which meant trading villagers, which meant a sugar cane farm that still hasn't been built. "There's no functional reason why this base is as crazy as it is. It's just for fun."

Magma for nothing

The last platform needs its underside matched too. Basket digs under it and lays magma blocks where the slimes would die. "That would be where the slimes would die if it was actually a slime farm." This one isn't in a slime chunk, so no redstone. There's little headroom here, so some of it gets built sideways, with a pick that's nearly worn out.

Time runs out before the railings get done, and the blocks are running low too. Basket ends by pouring water on the orange powder to turn it into concrete, with a note to check for missing torches so nothing spawns in the wrong place. The end card follows with no gameplay after it.
