Episode 74 picks up inside Basket Castle with two jobs on the list: finish the inside of the wall, then plan the stables. The road will come up through here and turn, and the stables go right beside it. Basket is the only player in the game this time.
Laying out the ground
First the bottom of the wall gets filled in. There's an odd extra spot that Basket leaves open for now ("it could be a super secret closet maybe"). Then dirt goes down for the stable floor, raised one block so the ground climbs a little toward this side. Inside the pens the floor will probably be path blocks.
The first plan is three-block stalls, a three-wide path down the middle, and another row of three-block stalls on the far side. That takes up more room than Basket expected. Two-deep stalls would save space, but "too deep seems, yeah, really small for a horse." So one side gets stalls and the far side may be left open. Night falls almost as soon as the dirt is in.
Trying it out on a donkey
The stables will be mostly spruce. Basket fetches spruce and some oak, crafts fences ("it's always the opposite") and builds a single test stall against the wall. Gates would eat into the stall's depth ("it'll only be two and a half"), so trapdoors get a try instead.
Then Basket remembers there's a donkey around to test the size with, even though "I don't ride horses in this game." After some trouble with jumping ("release when it gets the top of the orange, got it"), the donkey goes into the stall and then walks right back out. Keeping it in will take a low enough ceiling.
The roof
Spruce stairs on the roof don't do much for Basket, and a darker roof might look better, so Basket brings over dark oak. The roof also needs to stick out one more block. Stairs go in to make an arc, with solid blocks around them: "now I think it looks better."
Next comes the real question: can a rider still get the donkey out? "Okay, so you can ride it out." Basket wishes trapdoors could open sideways, but the stall works. The donkey keeps stepping up onto the side, so slabs go along the top to stop it. The middle path grows to four wide, leaving two blocks between this roof and the one that will face it.
A row of stalls
Before building against the wall, Basket finishes its face with mossy and cracked bricks, since the back will show. One spot is left open as "a convenient spot for a secret door" into the space inside the wall. Then the stalls go up in a row: trapdoor gates, slab tops, and a torch on every other stall. A four-wide opening in the wall, with a two-wide door, might lead somewhere later.
Hay in the rafters
There's a lot of room under the roof. Trapdoors make an open rafter floor you can look down through, and a ladder leads up to it. Basket has no wheat farm yet ("eventually there's gonna be a farm island over there"), but some wheat turns up by a pen, enough for a few hay bales.
The bales go in on their sides and stacked into the corners, so you have to climb over them to get around. Torches go in too, "very, very good to have open flame next to a bunch of hay." One corner becomes a hay bale secret door. The plan is pistons to push the bales and a small T flip-flop so a button on either side opens it. "If you're trying to run away, you can run up in the hay thing." The episode ends there, out of time, and the credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
