Basket Castle Battlements: Team B.S. Server Episode 101

  • Published on

Episode 101 starts with Basket sleeping through the night in a bed and heading back up the walls. "We are going to continue working on the battlements today." The plan is to go one layer up and take the same design all the way around the castle. Basket is the only player in the game; the in-game chat shows only Basket's own lines and the server's save messages.

One layer up

Basket copies the pattern from the finished stretch one piece at a time: a stair, a block, a fence with a torch on top. This corner was never squared off like the back one, so Basket leaves it rounded to see how it looks. There's no support pillar on this piece, "because it would sort of interact weird with the next layer down." The building under this wall went up before the battlements were planned, so a few spots need shifting to line up. Each drain gets a gap for the water to run off.

A viewer asks about a windmill. Basket isn't putting one up here, but there's going to be "a big huge crane" to lift supplies up from a road and some buildings down below and store them inside.

Checking from the ground

From below, one window "obviously needs some adjustments," and the wall has no support pillars yet, so Basket adds some. That raises a new question: should the inside of the wall get battlements too? A viewer describes walls with only a hip-high half wall on the inside. Basket likes that and thinks about fences or some other texture there, but decides to finish the outside first.

Cutting the corner straight

The next corner is a straight diagonal on one side and a curve on the other. Basket cuts it straight over, takes out part of the wall, rebuilds it and moves some dirt around to fit the new shape. Two fence openings and two support pillars go in, lined up with each other. One window would be too close to the next, which would make it easy to "just break into the castle," so Basket puts in a single new window to match the others, with a slab at the bottom. There's no chiseled stone on hand, so it's off to a crafting table a floor down first.

The top building

With time left, Basket checks the cobblestone supply and heads up to the top of the next building. This wall has an even number of blocks, so the middle is a closed piece and the open spots are four wide. The curved corner up here takes a few tries. A viewer thinks it looks off, and Basket agrees: the pattern isn't centered on the curve. After rebuilding it, "I think that's better." A check at night shows the torches light up the battlements well. The old arrow slits on this wall will "probably go" and become windows.

From the trees

The other side of the top goes in the same way, with support pillars three apart. Then Basket looks at the whole thing from the trees. "Pretty good." Changing the windows should help. There's a fireplace running through one wall, which is why it has no windows, and that may make the new window idea tricky there. What goes on the inside of the walls is still undecided. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
