Basket Castle Battlements: Team B.S. Server Episode 108

  • Published on

Episode 108 starts where the last battlements left off. It was night a couple of times since, so the first job is checking for creepers. Then Basket takes a shortcut into the castle, climbs a ladder, and grabs a shulker box left up top. "Don't want to lose it." Basket is the only player in the game; the in-game chat shows only Basket's own sleep and weather lines and the server's save messages.

Past the unbuilt building

The plan is outside battlements around the whole castle, starting with the easiest side. The last stretch stopped at a building because Basket wasn't sure how that building would be set up, so the new run picks up on its far side. It isn't simple. This part sits at a different height and isn't level, so the outer layer comes off and the drains and support pillars get shuffled around. Shifting the whole thing over one wins, partly because Basket likes "the idea of having these be matching." Drains go in, then stairs, slabs and blocks, and a stair curves into the wall at one end. Cobblestone fences with torches go on top.

Slabs on the corners

The corners are "a little screwy," so one gets a fence to start. A walk down for a look from below follows, and a viewer suggests a half slab instead of a stair. Basket tries a slab on top of the corner instead of the fence, then crafts a stack of fences and finishes the support pillars along the stretch.

From a distance, the slab corners win. "I think the corners look better this way." Basket calls this side done, with one gap left blank where a building will go someday, and the battlements there can be adjusted once it's built.

Up the slope

Next is the other side, through the little town and in at the front. "I don't remember how to get up the stairs anymore." This side is harder: the wall runs into a tower that isn't built yet, maybe a smaller tower after it, then more wall and another tower, so there's a lot of starting and stopping. Basket also wants room for new windows below, so the pattern shifts over one, then one more to give a corner space. Digging through the shulker boxes for stairs brings a familiar thought: "I should really label these."

The corner gets squared off, a set of stairs gets flipped to leave more room, and a light check reads 9. Where the wall climbs, the battlements step down with it, with a drain every three blocks. Support pillars go in lined up over the windows, which may get moved later anyway. From the ground, the pillars line up with the next section "without even really trying," and one more goes in against the wall so the pattern holds.

The last stretch

Ender pearls are running low. After a couple of throws, one lands right inside the castle ("oh perfect"), and Basket refills there. The next stretch ends at another future building, left blank for now. Four supports fit, not centered, but placed so their beams line up with the support work below. "I like this plan." Drains, stairs around the corner, fences and torches follow, then the pillars, three apart. At the tower they would come out closer together, so that part waits.

The episode ends with a long look from far away. There will be a tower here and a smaller one there, and the battlements still have to come down the other side. "It's looking better." The plain windows will be swapped for better ones, and mossy bricks and other textures may go in later to break up the walls. The credits run to the end with no gameplay after them.
