Episode 3 opens on a factory already running: drills on iron ore, furnaces, belts and steam engines by a lake, wired up with electric poles. The objective box asks for 75 iron plates and 30 copper plates, then for radars to scan 50 sectors. By the end, three gun turrets guard a radar, five sectors are scanned, and an assembler has started on ammunition for them.
Copper at last
The copper count starts at zero. Basket puts furnaces near the reddish copper patch, with inserters and small electric poles. Copper goes in by hand at first while the screen darkens into night. An electric mining drill goes on the patch, and then the copper runs out: "I've used up all my copper." The commentary stays upbeat: "We're so good at this game."
A longer furnace row
The furnaces grow into a long row with inserters on both sides and a belt of plates underneath. Basket crafts a submachine gun, and a hint explains that Q switches weapons. Copper piles up far past the 30 asked for, while iron keeps vanishing into new machines. "Oh, I just used up all my iron." When the objective clears, the game's text says "Good, I think I have everything to start building radars."
Radars, and coal for the boilers
A hint says the more radars there are, "the faster you will be able to locate the ship wreck," and another warns: "The enemies might attack your radars. You might want to protect them with gun turrets." The new objective: "Use radars to scan the surrounding territory."
"Oh, I need wood," so Basket chops trees. Chests go at the end of the plate belt, plus a lamp "so we can see." A boiler runs low on fuel, so Basket switches to burner inserters, "because we want to power them with the coal they're going to use," and runs coal to the boilers on a belt.
Turrets with no ammunition
The radar goes down in open grass near the lake. Gun turrets go next to it, and their tooltip reads "Damage: No ammo." "Oh, you need ammunition, ooh, interesting. I guess that makes sense." Basket crafts firearm magazines and loads each turret by hand "for now." Three end up in a row above the radar, and the scan count starts to climb.
An assembler for ammunition
Next the commentary wants the turrets fed automatically, but "I don't know what the steps are for that." A magazine needs only iron: "Oh, just plates. Okay, that's not bad." An assembling machine beside the radar is set to firearm magazines, with 98 iron plates in its input slot and an inserter at its output. Back at the furnaces a new belt runs north, but one question has no answer: "Is there a way I can tell this guy to like only grab certain things?"
Where it ends
The scan count reads 5 of 50 when an edited-in "To be Continued..." card appears over the crafting window, with the sorting question still open.
