Episode 19 opens at night with a short tour of what has been set up since the last episode, and an oil field spotted on the map. Basket runs a line of turrets and a belt out to it, clearing biter spawners along the way, then cuts a clearing in a forest for pumpjacks and pipes the crude back toward the base. The new oil shows up a different problem at home: not enough iron. By the end plastic is flowing again, nothing is researching, and more iron is the plan for next time.
A tour, and a plan
The tour starts at an assembling machine making speed modules. "So this outputs the Speed Module 2. Right now it's behind, actually." The turret line has also been extended "down here, all the way up," linking up with the rest of the defenses.
Then the map view: "there's now a bunch of oil over here." The plan is to keep building "this line here of turrets and ammunition running all the way this direction," then "make a whole bunch of harvesters and run a pipeline back."
Turrets toward the oil
The crafting queue is so full that power poles are slow to come, so Basket cancels some of it to get them moving. Then the line goes out a piece at a time: turrets, belt, inserters and poles. Spitters attack the end of it ("those spitters, they cause problems"), and the map shows more clusters of biter spawners in the way. Each time the turrets go in close enough to clear the spawners before the line moves on. The commentary notes the speedup: "Now that I've kind of optimized how I'm placing stuff, it didn't take very long."
Pumpjacks in the forest
A page-turn cut jumps ahead. "I have arrived. So it was inside of a big forest, I had to cut that down." Basket puts turrets along the bottom edge first, then lays out the pumpjacks, nine of them so far, and starts joining them with pipe and underground pipe. The pipe runs out before they are all connected. Speed modules go into the pumpjacks that are hooked up, and Basket heads back for iron.
On the return trip the last connections go in. A pipe tooltip shows crude oil, and the commentary checks the flow back at base: "we're still using it up but at the same rate that we're producing it," and "it's not emptying all the way out."
Short on iron
Back home, speed modules go into the oil refineries. A look at production finds machines waiting on iron with "no iron coming on this belt." The commentary's guess is that "some of my mines kind of dried up." The pickaxe has worn out too, so Basket makes a new one from steel.
The map shows another iron patch, but it is "not very fortified." Instead Basket rearranges a block of drills inside the base, pointing them onto a belt that was not being used. The screen fills with "Cannot insert Coal. Player's inventory full." Plastic and red chips get carried by hand to machines that need them. Then the coal starts backing up, so a filter inserter set to coal feeds a new coal line of fast and underground belts. "So now we're good again."
Where it ends
"We're producing plastic now. So now that we've got that oil thing we're set basically." The last change is speed modules in the machine that makes speed modules, "so that it can make speed upgrades faster." The research box still reads "Press T to start a new research." Next episode, the commentary says, will go after "another supply, or a couple supplies, maybe, of iron." The video ends on the base at night.
