Episode 11 of Season 2 is mostly one fight. An enemy nest sits where the rail grid from Episode 10 wants to grow, and Basket goes at it with grenades, then a rocket launcher, then explosive rockets. Between attacks come a new turning rail template and a first beacon. In the end a tank does the job, and the video closes with the area clear and a plan to expand into it.
Grenades at the edge
The commentary sets the plan in the first lines: "this episode is probably going to be, at least start out with combat." Laser turrets are not researched yet, so instead, "here's grenades." The research box shows Grenade damage 2. The grenades hit an area, which also means they hit Basket's own buildings: "Okay, so it does hurt my own stuff, that makes sense." The machine gun will not fire at all, and the commentary cannot work out why.
Robots are building a new walled block right next to the nest, but the new turrets have no ammunition. Basket takes ammo from the turrets farther back, loads the front ones by hand, and cuts the blueprint down so only half the block builds at a time. A temporary wall also went up because enemies "were coming in and destroying everything."
Rockets, and the Q key
Rocketry goes into research. Rockets need explosives, and there are none yet ("Oh I don't have explosives"). Basket sets up rocket launcher manufacturing and comes back with a launcher and about 20 rockets. Trying them out, Basket finds the reason the machine gun never fired: "it's potentially Q, yes." The weapon had been switched.
Rockets reach well, but some of the defenses, which the commentary calls "the blue ones," can shoot back before Basket gets in range. The attack turns into short runs: shoot, retreat to heal, go again. Part of the nest falls, and then the commentary backs off to "come up with a plan for taking out the rest of this base."
A turning template
Back at the rail blocks, there is a new template that turns the track instead of running it straight through, with a short bypass so a train coming in can turn without going around a roundabout. The block templates no longer carry their weapons either. A separate defense module with requester chests and turrets goes in the middle first, and the sides follow once it has ammunition. Effect transmission is in research.
Explosive rockets and a beacon
Explosive rockets arrive next, but they have the same range, so Basket still cannot hit the nest from a safe spot. "Alright, maybe I need a tank."
A beacon comes first. It goes down among some pumpjacks, with two speed modules taken from the pumpjacks themselves. Its panel reads "Distribution efficiency: 0.5" and "Speed: +20%." After a few swaps, the commentary compares readings of 40% and 60% and works out that the beacon "only transmit[s] out... half."
Tanks need more blue science first. Rocket making is turned off so explosives pile up instead, and red chips get carried to the science line by hand.
The tank
The research screen shows the cannon shell recipe: steel plate, plastic bar and explosives. Then: "I have a tank." A car gets built too. Steering is "not very easy," and the tank scrapes into things, but its range beats the defenses. With explosive shells, Basket picks off the nest from outside, including a big worm, while repair robots fix what gets damaged. "This does quite a bit of damage. I like this."
Where it ends
Basket climbs out with the nest gone. The plan is more grid blocks and expansion, and the commentary notes copper and iron are running low. Nothing is in research, and the commentary calls it the end of the episode.
