Basket takes out the Federation Cruiser Type C for the first time, on Normal with Advanced Edition content enabled. The hangar names it the Fregatidae: no weapons in the weapons bar, no drone system, and an Emergency Respirators augment. "It has crew teleporting, a cloning bay, no weapons besides it has an artillery thing," Basket says, a slow-charging artillery "that will do a bunch of flak damage." The crew list shows Maria, Aasted, Zas and Nekose, a Mantis. The ship reaches Sector 4 and is torn apart there by a Rebel Fighter, for a score of 1365.
Part 1: Fighting by boarding
Sector 1 is a Civilian Sector. An advanced Rebel automated ship guards a storage cache, and Basket leaves it alone ("we can't do much about it"). A Pirate Scout asking a fee to let the Fregatidae pass gets turned down and fought. Against the next ship, a Pirate Interceptor, two crew teleport into its weapons room while the artillery charges. "So flak is going in, it kind of covers everything. Wow, that's a lot of flak."
The plan for the run is set early: board, kill the crew, and let the cloning bay bring the dead back. Against an Auto-Assault charging its FTL, Basket drops crew into its engines so it cannot leave, and lets one wounded crew member die on purpose so the clone comes back at full health. A Pirate Instigator demands a crew member, and Basket picks "We will never surrender one of our crew to slavers!" The fight that follows costs oxygen and starts fires before the boarders win it.
Another Pirate Scout sends intruders aboard and wrecks the crew teleporter ("This is a tough ship"). With its weapons down it offers supplies to be left alone; Basket refuses, wins, and comes away with a Small Bomb, a teleporting bomb that ignores shields. The store's weapons go unbought ("we can't use them"), and the scrap goes on repairs. "We're still alive."
Part 2: A Rock and a prisoner
For Sector 2 Basket picks the Rock Controlled Sector, "because we want to be able to teleport in, and we can't with those Zoltan shields." A Pirate Assault with its own crew teleporter comes first, and the Small Bomb takes out its clone bay. A live mine drifts out of a burnt Rock hull; evasive maneuvers fail, but a crew member defuses it.
At a store Basket hires Aki, a Rockman, for 55 scrap ("these guys have extra health"). After a Rock Scout fight, the Small Bomb on the medbay and a boarding party clear its crew, and a prisoner named Turing joins. "Wow, lots of these Zoltan guys." A Mantis Scout hunting Rock crew offers a blue option to put Aki on the comm, which only starts another fight; a missile gets through before the last of its crew falls. The part ends at the exit with no Rebel ship in sight. "The ship is kind of difficult to work with. I miss having weapons."
Part 3: A quest, a laser, and Sector 4
Sector 3 is an Engi Controlled Sector, chosen over one where enemy ships have no oxygen, "so our crew teleporting wouldn't really do much good." An away party finds a hidden Federation outpost, which hands over 23 scrap and an Anti-Personnel Drone and asks the crew to save a sister outpost. Basket upgrades the crew teleporter and takes the quest. Next to an allied ship, the Fregatidae boards an Elite Fighter and wins, and a soldier named Nazia stays on.
At a store Basket sells gear to afford Drone Control, which brings a free System Repair Drone, then sells the Anti-Personnel Drone to pay for repairs. A distress call turns out to be an ambush by a Pirate Instigator. The boarders kill its whole crew, and the ship yields a Hull Laser, its first regular weapon. "Problem is, I think it's really that we didn't invest in shields," Basket says.
Sector 4 is another Engi Controlled Sector. Basket gives four fuel to a stranded Federation Bomber, then attacks a Rebel Rigger watching a station, and beats it despite its combat drone.
How it ended
The next beacon holds a Rebel Fighter, a sign that the Rebel fleet is already moving into Engi space. "Got a bunch of weapons and a medbay," Basket says, and with no bombs left the crew boards it anyway. The hull drops to critical, the Fregatidae breaks apart, and the Game Over box reads "One last explosion marks your fate as your ship is torn apart," score 1365. "That's a tough ship." The video goes to the hangar and ship list before the end cards.
