Minecon 2013 was held in Orlando, Florida, and this is Basket's first day there. It is also Basket's first vlog: a short talk to the camera before heading down to registration, then the opening ceremony, then a walk around the show floor.
Before the doors open
"Hey everybody, Basket here, in real life." Basket explains that this is the first day of the actual Minecon, that last night was the party, and that clips from it are coming with captions "in case it's hard to tell what's what," because it was really loud there. Then it is time to head down to registration, hoping the line is not too long.
The next shot is the entrance: a huge "MINECON Orlando, FL 2013" sign, purple lights, smoke and a glowing doorway. Inside, the hall is dark and lit green. "This is awesome. I'm walking in the back."
The opening ceremony
Big screens hang over the crowd from green-lit trusses. The host opens with "Welcome to Orlando, and more importantly to Minecon," and says that as far as the eye can see, "there are Minecrafters everywhere." Next come the two teams in the office, the people working on the PC game and the Pocket Edition team, who come up one at a time to say who they are and what they work on. The rest of the ceremony plays out to music and cheering.
The show floor
After that, the clips move fast. A crowd fills the floor under a giant Xbox banner. A big black dragon costume goes past the escalators. Rows of computers run Minecraft, and a panel plays on a big screen.
Then comes a life-size Minecraft farm: blocky cows, red mooshrooms, horses, a donkey and pigs inside wooden fences, with hay bales and a big red barn. Basket poses next to a giant creeper with a wide-open mouth, acting scared.
The last stop is a large model of Minecraft terrain built from small blocks: grassy hills with animals, a jungle with hanging vines and water, desert hills with cactus, and a model train track running along the front. The video ends on a card: "Stay tuned for more Minecon videos."
