Episode 31 of the GopherCraft Great Space Race opens on a changed game. An update has added funds, reputation and contracts, and launches now cost money. Basket spends the episode learning the new Mission Control and trying to finish contracts with craft already in space. One flag contract gets done on the Mun, a science contract gets done over Kerbin, and a second science job on the Mun is still stuck when the video ends.
Launches cost money now
"They came out with an update which added currency, starting currency, reputation." The VAB shows the newest design, the Mun Lander XII, with landing legs all over it. "I was thinking about calling it the porcupine because I have all these landing legs." The editor prices it at 244,030 against funds of 10,000. "Now that each launch costs a bunch of money, I'll have to reconsider that."
The Space Center view also gets stuck, and Basket has to restart the game to get to the Tracking Station. "I'm really confused by this update." The Tracking Station lists Orbit V around Kerbin; the Mun Lander III, Mun Lander III Ship, Mun Lander VI and Mun Lander XI landed at the Mun; Hersey Kerman landed at the Mun; three Mun landing flags; and a North Pole flag on Kerbin.
A flag for a contract
In Mission Control, Basket accepts "Plant flag on the Mun." The Mun Lander III Ship is already down there, and it has a crew. Anton Kerman climbs out in the dark and plants a flag named for the contract. The objective flips to complete, and the funds jump past 100,000.
More contracts follow: science data from space around the Mun, and science data from space around Kerbin. Anton tries an EVA report but cannot get back inside. "I realize I don't have an antenna on this." Anton stays out on the surface.
Hunting for power
The Mun Lander VI with Bob Kerman has an antenna. A temperature scan from the Mun's Midlands goes through, then the warning "Not Enough ElectricCharge!" comes up, and both science contracts stay open. The Mun Lander XI has nothing to give. "It has no electricity so I can't send back any data." Back on the Mun Lander VI, the solar panel sits underneath the tipped lander, out of the sun. "I hate to fail this mission."
Orbit V does the job
Orbit V, with Sondred Kerman aboard, is still circling Kerbin. Its Mystery Goo data goes up through the antenna, and the contract for science from space around Kerbin gets its check mark.
Where it ends
Bob climbs out of the Mun Lander VI and uses the jetpack to shove the lander, trying to roll the solar panel into the light. The lander does not roll over. "Okay, so that's not going to work." "To be continued..." comes up with Bob still outside beside the lander and the Mun science contract unfinished. Nobody has made it to the Mun and back yet.
