Episode 30 of the GopherCraft Great Space Race follows the two flights left running at the end of the last video. Hersey Kerman takes the Mun Lander XI down to the Mun and lands, but the lander doesn't stay upright. Jebediah Kerman flies the Mun Lander III back to Kerbin and sets down at the North Pole. When the video ends, Basket is back in the VAB looking for a way to land without tipping over.
Two flights at once
The video opens on a two-minute burn for the Mun Lander III, with Jebediah Kerman aboard. Afterward the map shows it heading out on a wide path around Kerbin, with the escape from the Mun about an hour off. Basket switches to the Mun Lander XI, where a Mun encounter is 30 minutes away. Getting into orbit doesn't go well. "I don't know what I'm doing anymore." A 30-second burn sets up a path that meets the Mun, and Basket decides to go straight down. "I'm really low on fuel."
Hersey's landing
Basket lets the lander fall most of the way and saves the engines for the end. "We don't have a lot of fuel left, so even if I do land successfully and it stays upright, I'm not sure if we'll be able to get off the Mun." The plan is to land in the middle of a flat crater.
It touches down on a slope. "Please don't fall over." It falls over, and part of it blows up. "Stop blowing up!" The capsule comes through.
With the solar panels underneath, the lander runs short of electric charge, and the crew report won't transmit. A Materials Study from the Mun's Highlands does get through for 8 science. Hersey climbs out, plants a flag named "Third Mun Landing," takes a surface sample and an EVA report, and poses for a screenshot beside the upturned lander.
Jebediah comes home
Back on the Mun Lander III, a 2 minute 40 second burn puts it on course for Kerbin, and a shorter burn lines it up with the North Pole. "Jebediah, you're coming home!" It lands upright on the ice. "Welcome to the North Pole."
Basket runs the thermometer, the materials bay and a crew report. Jebediah climbs down, loses the ladder and drops to the ice. "Luckily, you have a good suit." The EVA report comes from Kerbin's Ice Caps, the surface sample is worth 9 science, and the flag goes up. "We're not exactly the North Pole, but, you know, close enough."
Recovering Jebediah earns 11.4 science, and the Tracking Station recovers the lander. Hersey and the Mun Lander XI are listed as landed at the Mun.
Where it ends
Research and Development shows 60 science, not enough for what Basket wants. "There has to be some way for me to be able to land." In the VAB, Basket loads the Mun Lander XI and looks at the landing leg settings to stop the next one from rolling over. Hersey stays on the Mun with the tipped lander, and nobody has landed there and made it home yet.
