Raising the Ship is the first episode of Basket's realMyst: Masterpiece Edition playthrough, recorded from a stream. Basket reads through the library on the island, tries the imager, swings the tower around to read its plaques, and puts three dates into a star chart. The constellations it shows are the key to a sunken ship, and the video ends inside that ship's cabin with a new book open.
A library full of books
From the dock, Basket climbs past a big gear on the hill and finds the library. A map on its wall is labeled "Tower Rotation." A red book and a blue book each hold a small flickering picture ("he wants red pages," the commentary says).
Most of the shelf books are journals. One pairs star patterns with drawings: an anchor, a leaf, an eye, a snake, a beetle, a cross, an arrow and a bird. Basket copies each pattern down ("I remember this was a pen and paper kind of game"). Another book shows a piano keyboard with five keys numbered, and Basket redraws that too. With the library door closed, the bookcase opens onto a fireplace with a grid panel inside. Basket does not know its code and leaves it.
Around the island
Outside there is a model ship sunk in a stone pool and a real one sunk by the dock. Basket finds a safe with a three-digit lock (one guess fails), a boiler with a wheel and a gauge that is not running, and a clock tower out in the water whose time can be set with two wheels. Down a dark tunnel, a sign reads "Power," "Power to Ship" and "Generator Switches." In the room below, ten buttons push power onto two dials. The first dial fills up; the second, for the ship, stays at 00. Basket writes down what each button adds and moves on.
The imager
In another building, a note on the wall reads "Settings - Dimensional Imager": Topographical Extrusion Test 40, Marker Switch Diagram 47, Water Turbulence Pool 67. Basket enters 40 and a glowing model of rocky land rises from the basin. 47 shows a diagram of the marker switches, and 67 shows rippling water. Any other number does nothing.
Turning the tower
The Tower Rotation map has a line that swings around the island and sticks to certain points. Flipping the marker switches around the island changes which points show up on it. Basket rides an elevator up into the tower and finds a plaque that changes with where the tower points. Pointed one way, it reads "59 volts." Pointed at the gears, "2:40" and "2, 2, 1." At the boiler, "7, 2, 4." At the ship, it lists three dates.
Back in the generator room, Basket sets the first dial to 59. Nothing obvious happens, and the dial for the ship still reads 00. "So I have that number here, that's the power, but... I need to get the power to go there."
Three dates in the stars
Earlier, Basket had found a room with a chair that shows the sky. "Interesting, so if we know dates, we can find the constellations. But we need dates first." Now there are three: October 11, 1984, 10:04 AM; January 17, 1207, 5:46 AM; and November 23, 9791, 6:57 PM. With the lights off, Basket dials in each one and checks the stars against the copied patterns. The first "looks a lot like Canada," a leaf. The second is a snake, and the third a beetle.
Where it ends
It is night outside. "So we wanna do maple leaf first. And then the snake. And then the beetle." Basket presses the three symbols in that order, and the model ship in the stone pool comes up to the surface. "But also this boat over here has risen." Basket walks onto the deck of the ship by the dock, goes down into the cabin and finds a book, "our first book." It opens to a page with a small dark picture, and the video ends there.
