Episode 2 of Season 1 is another stream, and it picks up on Cycle 3, where Episode 1 stopped. The colony still has no food source. By the end of this video a fourth duplicant has joined, a Microbe Musher is turning dirt and water into Mush Bars, and the colony makes it to the morning of Cycle 6 with everyone alive.
A battery and a hatch
The wheels are still turning when the video opens, and the commentary says they make far more power than the colony uses. A Hatch wanders the food area. Its card calls it "a nocturnal scavenger" and offers Attack, and the commentary wants it gone. A Microbe Musher is placed upstairs, which needs power too, so the commentary raises the priority on the battery and its wiring. Once the battery is hooked up, the Manual Generator card reads "Batteries Sufficiently Full." Oxygen and power go back to priority 8, with 9 kept free for urgent digging and food set at 7, "so that they stay alive."
Marie joins
A Select a DNA Blueprint window offers three new duplicants. Basket takes Marie, a Level 5 Body Builder who is Buff and has Gastrophobia, which means "Cannot perform job: Cook." The commentary wants someone strong "to run on power" and do manual labor. In the Jobs screen most of Marie's other jobs get switched off. When a duplicant falls asleep on the floor for lack of a bed, a fourth bed goes in.
Mush Bars
The Microbe Musher finishes. Its one open recipe is the Mush Bar: 75 Kg of dirt and 75 Kg of water for 1,000 kcal, Quality Grisly, and it "May cause Diarrhea." The commentary calls them "disgusting bars," and the recipe is set to run continuously. Over the video, the Edible count in the resource list climbs from 23,183 kcal to 41,153 kcal.
Plans for research
Up top, a new floor is marked out for a research room, with a Research Station and a Super Computer placed in it. They wait on raw resources and on the duplicants digging out the space. Down by the water, a pocket of carbon dioxide has settled, unbreathable, and the commentary decides to leave it for now.
Stress and flower vases
The commentary notices a meter climbing and thinks a duplicant is getting smarter, then realizes it is stress. The build menus have answers: a Massage Table, and a Flower Vase in the Decor menu. The Tasteful Memorial's description, which mentions disease from unburied corpses, gets a surprised reaction. Flower vases go in on the floors where the duplicants work and sleep, plants soon stand in them, and the decor overlay shows which rooms are low and which are high.
Where it ends
Night falls on Cycle 5. All four duplicants sleep in a row of beds, and time is sped up to morning. Cycle 6 begins, and the video ends there.
