Episode 15 of Season 1 is a stream that opens on Cycle 50, where Episode 14 stopped: 14 duplicants, a Food shortage alert and 0 kcal of food. Three new duplicants are printed, a pump room goes up beside a pocket of hydrogen with a wheel generator to run it, and gas starts moving toward the base. It ends on Cycle 55 with 17 duplicants and power still short.
Slime, algae and a new duplicant
"I think we're doing pretty good, let's get another person." The first pick is a Tinkerer: "Working on machines. Can't dig, that's fine." Algae is short, and a machine is "awaiting delivery of slime," so its job goes to priority 9. A pump is pushing out gas, "mostly oxygen right now actually," and the hydrogen is "not a whole lot."
Dig markers go down over algae and slime at priority 8. A second duplicant comes out of the printer: "Can't be a cook, that's fine."
Looking for the hydrogen
Then some exploring. On the temperature overlay it is "pretty warm. It gets a little bit cooler in this section." A plan forms: "we can put a pump over here and then we can suck in a bunch of the gases here." A small room comes first, built "a little bit higher up because I want to be able to build my plan before I let in the gas."
An air pump, a door and a gas pipe go in, the pipe running "all the way over" to the base so the gas passes a filter, and "if it's hydrogen they'll be moved over there." After that, "I can dig out some more to allow this all to rise up and then I can burn it all." Research Complete ticks over to 15, with no new research picked. Back in the base, polluted gas is leaking in, so a door and then a Mechanized Airlock go up to keep it out. The rock by the pocket is slow going: "wow, this rock must be really tough. But yeah, we're having lots of power problems."
A wheel for the pump
Coal is low as well. "I kind of want this thing to run," so the pump gets its own circuit with a battery and a manual generator, "so that even if everything else is not powered this thing at least will pump out all this hydrogen." The generator is a wheel for a duplicant to run on, though "there's no oxygen here so they wouldn't be able to do it for too long."
Below the room sits the hydrogen. A third new duplicant is printed, with "Construction speed and small bladder."
A stuck duplicant
Nobody builds the wheel. "Oh, are you stuck here? Maybe that's why nobody's doing it." An order gets canceled, the commentary pleads "please don't die," and at last: "now you can leave, that's great." Soon, "finally somebody's running on this thing," though it is "mostly polluted oxygen running over here." The pipe carries it into the base, which "is fine because we do have a lot of filters everywhere." A Stress vomiting alert appears. The Rejuvenator's assignment list comes up with a plan to put Gossmann in it: "I don't really know how that works."
Where it ends
"There you go, here's some more hydrogen." The hydrogen goes to power, and the oxygen, polluted or not, into the base. Water is "still not coming into here right," so liquid pipes come out and go back in, and "now it looks like it's at least moving around." On Cycle 55 there are 17 duplicants, Research Complete reads 15 with no task picked, and the Food shortage alert is still up. "Anyway, yeah, we're just dealing with low power." The stream ends there.
