This video opens on a wooden staircase, and at the top the game puts up "Area Discovered: Crystal Lab." The whole episode stays inside the lab: a hidden code on a sheet of paper, a grid of symbol buttons beside a bowl of orange crystals, and a letter that hands over a notebook. The grid is still locked when the video ends.
Writing in the light
The lab is full of benches and equipment. A small box sits on the wall under a barred-gate symbol, and a machine of copper drums makes the commentary think "we could use this to generate some electricity."
On one bench a light shines through a blue crystal, and hidden ink shows up: "it turns neon when the light shines through." Nearby is a sheet with a sketch of crystals and five symbols, each next to a row of tally marks. The commentary calls it "potentially a translation of numbers," and since the sheet can't be taken along, the symbols get copied down by hand: a line with a dot is four, a backwards S with a dot is two, a T is five, a sideways T with lines through it is one, and a backwards F is three.
A one-page book tells a legend about a hidden world. The commentary reads it aloud, guesses "it's the crystals we're talking about," and decides "maybe in the future I won't read those on camera." A cabinet with a symbol on its door doesn't open.
The grid of symbols
On a stand beside a bowl of glowing orange crystals is a grid of 25 buttons, each with a symbol. "So this looks like some sort of combination lock or something." The plan is to press the symbols in order of their tallies, one to five: the T with a line through it, then the S with the dot, the backward F, and the O with a line on top. The fifth should be a plain T, and the grid doesn't seem to have one. "Why aren't I seeing a T?"
A letter and a notebook
Elsewhere in the lab is a third letter. "I prepared for your arrival for decades," it begins, and it asks the reader to inspect "my studies" and learn about "these crystals." It ends: "I've put an empty notebook right next to this letter. Feel free to take notes and draw sketches for yourself." The notebook goes into the inventory, and the symbol sheet becomes its first sketch.
In the middle of the lab a big blue crystal stands on a round stone base. Out on a table by the water, the commentary decides that "by wind it's powering the crystal."
Where it ends
Back at the grid with the notebook, one symbol "could be the T, but then it has something extra." A guess with it fails, and the commentary wonders if "the symbols don't seem to necessarily match" and belong somewhere else. The video ends with Basket looking around the lab's main room by the blue crystal, the grid still locked.
