Episode 15 ended with a fire under the potion pot. This stream picks up right there: the plant potion gets brewed and poured, and that part goes well. The rest of the video is spent on a second recipe that needs an ingredient called "taxs", which nothing on the shelf supplies. Every mix Basket grinds comes out as goop, and the video ends just as a hidden chart turns up.
Brewing for the plants
With the burner glowing, the recipe scroll comes out of the inventory: rows of colored dust drawn next to handwritten names. Purple goes into the pot first, two lots of it, and it swirls on the heat. The other dusts follow by color, stirred in with a spoon. "Ah, we pumped it out, yes." The finished brew is poured into the pipe from Episode 14, a valve wheel gets turned, and on the recording the plan is that "it waters the plants."
One jar is empty
Back by the tall glass jars, one label reads "taxs", and that jar stands empty. A second recipe sheet asks for one of each of three jar ingredients, two of a fourth, plus green, white and yellow dust, and "taxs" is one of the four lines. "We don't have any taxes," the commentary says, and from here on the potion is "taxes".
The plant bench
At a bench under a lamp, sheets of drawn plants are pinned up with their names: a blue flower, a white bell flower, red and yellow berries, two round blossoms. The commentary notices that the names pair up: "two different plants and they have similar endings." A cutting tool snips plants from the beds, a brass grinder crushes them, and the result drips into a vial.
Then it fails, over and over. Three of one plant and three of another, crank, look at the vial: "It's just a dud. It's goop." The red plant with another, purple with the fern, the fern with the red plant, one plant on its own. Each time the goop gets poured out and the empty vial goes back.
Testing a known pair
To check the method, Basket tries to make an ingredient the shelf already has, using the blue and white flowers. That comes out the same dull color. Alternating them, "blue, white, blue, white", does no better. More counting of the drawings leaves one plant that doesn't seem to pair with anything, and the idea that some plant is still hiding.
A long walk
The search widens: the room where the fire stone came from, the letters in the inventory, and a long run to a far building with "other junk on the table". "Gosh, I hope I don't have to grab three of something else from really far away." A viewer's hint is read out: "This is a recipe, but I don't know that you discovered it yet."
A chart on the painting
On the way back, the commentary asks: "Does it involve holding up my blue torch to something that I haven't looked at yet?" At the easel beside the bench, the painting of a rocky island now shows a glowing blue chart: the jar names across the top, plant names down the side, tally marks in the boxes. "Blue torch. Always the answer."
Where it ends
"Alright, so we're going to make taxes." The video ends on the chart, with the taxs jar still empty.
