Episode 16 ended on a chart hidden in the easel painting, with the taxs jar still empty. This stream reads that chart, finally makes taxs, and brews the second potion with it. The potion melts a crystal, and that leads up a ladder to a lookout and into a building full of machines that are still a mystery when the stream ends.
Taxs at last
The chart lists the jar names across the top and the plants down the side, with tally marks in the boxes. The commentary reads it as a recipe: one blue flower, one of the plant that has no partner ("there is actually nine here so there's nothing hidden"), two red berries, one big red flower and one purple plant. The cutting tool and the grinder come out again. This time the vial is not goop: "Look at that, it's not even a bad potion. All right, so now we have one taxes."
The second potion
In the potion room, the recipe from Episode 16 finally has everything it needs. Taxs goes in with the jar ingredients, then one green dust, two white and one yellow. "It's a lot of work for taxes." The brew is stirred over the fire and poured into a bottle.
A crystal melts
"I'm going to pour this on that crystal way over there." In a small room of clay pots, the potion goes onto a clear crystal and it melts down: "Yes. Dissolve." A brass key sits on what is left, and a cabinet beside it holds a bundle of wooden pieces tied with rope. "I know of a ladder that needs some rungs."
First there is a stone post with sliding bars and knobs. The commentary works out shapes, "an X shape" and then "an L shape", and turns the parts until "Progress!" The ladder nearby can be climbed now.
Northern Viewpoint
At the top the screen says "Area Discovered: Northern Viewpoint." There is a key, a poker-like rod, and a letter about years of crystal work and a visitor who "introduced herself as the warden of this world. What a miserable lie it was." A machine on a table has a spiral dial, a button and a lever, but nothing turns: "We might have to first do something inside of this building over here."
A room of machines
The rod works as a lever, and the building opens. Inside: a column of dials marked with symbols, a row of copper cups by a big wheel, a rope that never stops moving, a board smeared with red paint, and combination locks of white rollers marked with lines. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 is a vertical line, good to know."
The viewpoint key opens a little chest on a table outside, and a door is unlocked for a quicker way down. Below sits a big rusty tank on a track that the commentary guesses is "an elevator." Back upstairs, a lever beside a pipe flips a small window through different symbols.
Where it ends
"I don't really know exactly how to work this room yet." The video ends in the machine room, with the combination locks unsolved and the dial machine outside still stuck.
