Episode 28 of The Witness brings in a new symbol: a small three-pointed mark that the commentary ends up calling "the negation object." Most of the video goes to working out what it does, first next to yellow block shapes and then next to colored suns. It ends on a fresh panel lighting a cable, and a short walk to see where it leads.
Stars on a brown grid
The video opens on a brown grid of white and black stars, next to a yellow panel that is already lit. The guess is that each section needs "exactly two of a given color star." After a few routes, "I think this will work. Yes!" Nearby, a small panel sits on a gray slab. Solving it tilts the slab up, "so now I will get up top."
A new symbol
Upstairs, green panels hold yellow block shapes and a white three-pointed mark. "This thing is potentially a shape negation. Is the name I'm giving it." One panel only goes through once the line groups two shapes and leaves the mark with something to cancel. "This negation object, or negation object, a negation object object thing, it needs to have something to negate. Otherwise it freaks out." The commentary notes that a wrong answer here means going back to "solve the previous one."
A platform on rails
A panel on a stand moves a platform along tracks. The first solve is easy "but it's actually not what we're doing," since it puts the platform in the wrong spot. A second line brings it close, and Basket hops on as it moves.
Colored suns
The next row mixes green, orange and pink suns with a pink version of the symbol. The working rule is "zero or two of the same color suns in the same area," and the symbol "only negates one object." Two of them in one area do not help each other: "the negation objects don't cancel out each other." The commentary asks for no hints in chat and keeps going.
Where it ends
The last panel of the row, with pink suns across the top, goes in with "it will remove the 3. Awesome." It turns on another panel beside it. "Oh, okay, it turned out more puzzles." That one takes an S-shaped line, and a white cable lights up and runs off. Basket follows it to a wall with two dark screens and one lit panel, looks at a green panel by a window, and the commentary calls the end of the stream.
