Episode 38 of The Witness stays in the white rooms where the floor can be drawn on. Basket finishes the row of green panels, works along a wall of orange panels that flip and turn while the line is drawn, and redraws the floor to reach two purple panels inside a pile of furniture. It ends stuck on the floor panel again.
Green panels and the floor
It opens at the row of green panels from the end of Episode 37. "So if you recall, this one was hard to solve, and now I'm onto this one." The next one has colored blobs that "need to stay together," and spots that blink when the line misses them. A line that separates the colors and crosses both spots goes in. "I guess that worked, okay."
The pale pink panel by the furniture column comes next, and it "actually draws the floor out." A line around a 1 by 4 shape lays a new lavender path across the room. "It's changed where the floor is, so now we can work on these puzzles."
Panels that turn
On a scorched wall, a row of orange panels sits behind cabinet doors. The first ones are flipped: "not only is it flipped, it's rotated." An L shape and a 1 by 3 take a few restarts. Then one panel turns while the line moves. "Oh wait, I see, the thing actually scrolls as you move things." It speeds up, and the commentary warns anyone who gets motion sick to look away. A step at a time, clicking only when ready, the spinning panels go in. "I think we're there, that's exciting."
Inside the furniture
One cable still runs to "the puzzle on the inside," a purple panel standing in the glass case of filing cabinets and chairs. Back at the floor panel, a new path is drawn so the floor reaches the right spot. "So where exactly do I have to stand?" On the purple panel, two 1 by 4 shapes cross at first ("they're intersecting, you can't do that"), and the second try goes in.
That solve shows "another puzzle right there," lying tilted across the open drawers. A 3 by 2 shape won't float in the middle, and the mouse keeps getting caught, but a line that keeps the dots apart works. "Like this? Yes. Okay, good."
Where it ends
The last cable leads to a puzzle "way over there," behind a door across the room. The floor path has to reach it, but drawing through the middle runs into the furniture column. The commentary walks out to check, "let's verify that we can't get across that gap," and comes back to the panel. The video ends there, unsolved: "we just somehow solve it where we don't draw through the middle." Then the end card.
