Day five of Island Survival, Michael Deering's April 2014 challenge, opens with the edited intro and then the words "Day 5" and "Scoti's Fault" over a dark cave. The chat still holds the end of the last session: "<Max_Writer> End the episode!" and then "<Scoti_Garbidis> beginning of the episode." Basket is still deep underground with Scoti_Garbidis and Sayulily, and the cave has opened into a ravine. "Oh look at that! Good job. I found the ravine." Someone hands out a spare iron sword. "It's so much better now with that iron sword."
The zombie in the cave
The ravine floor is a flooded pool, and it is full of monsters. "Anybody got a bow?" Below Basket's ledge, skeletons, zombies and a creeper move through the water. "Whoa whoa whoa. Oh, behind you." Then the chat reads "Sayulily was slain by Zombie." "What the heck?" "The zombie snuck in." "I had boots and a helmet, that's it."
The chat fills in after that. Scoti_Garbidis types "gg," Max_Writer asks "Where was she?" and Sayulily leaves the game. PsychoSFK types "gg" too, and Basket answers "ravine" and "south of base." In hardcore one death ends a run, so Sayulily is out. The Tab list now shows seven names: optimus1971, Scoti_Garbidis, lostinthefort, Steel_Douglas, BasketMC, PsychoSFK and Max_Writer.
A tree and a sign
"Mark your grave." Down in the cave a sapling goes into a square of dirt next to a waterfall, and a wooden sign goes up beside it. The sign starts "Here lies Sayulily." "I'm hearing skeletons and stuff. Don't let me get murdered."
Fighting back toward the others
The cave keeps coming. Creepers drop in, skeletons fire from the dark, and Basket eats rotten flesh to keep going. "I think I'm down five hearts right now." The chat shows lostinthefort earning Time to Strike. Basket grabs string and iron ore on the way, and the two follow the sound of voices through the rock. "Hey, where are you guys at? Can you hear us?" "We're the Chilean Miners." A long tunnel leads back to the base.
Back in the farm room
lostinthefort is in the underground farm room, and a tree is now growing in the middle of it. Basket pulls iron out of the furnace ("I got four more iron out of the furnace here") and bone-meals the wheat. The talk goes back to the cave. "She only had boots and a helmet." "I tried to give her pants and she said no, remember?" "Oh, so it's not your fault anymore." A large chest holds an enchanted book of Projectile Protection IV. "We need an anvil too."
Enchanting at last
Basket climbs up through the house into the night. On the grass by the cow pen sits an enchanting table, with lostinthefort and Scoti_Garbidis standing next to it. Basket puts each piece of iron armor on the table, then the sword and the iron pickaxe, which now reads Efficiency I. Everything Basket is wearing glows purple. An iron golem walks along the fence by the cows, and the chat shows lostinthefort earning Monster Hunter.
After morning
"Okay, guys, we need to wrap it. Yeah, it's definitely after morning, so we need to go." Basket ends the day alive in enchanted iron, with seven of the eight players still in the game. The credits roll after that, and nothing comes after them.
