Day eight of the Lacto Ovo Pacifist Challenge, Michael Deering's June 2015 Minecraft Hardcore Challenge. The title card reads "Day 1000", which is eight in binary. The rules still stand: no meat, fish, mushrooms or rotten flesh, no harming any mob, and a pretty house to finish on the plains. Basket starts the morning in the plank house writing a sign for one of the chests. It takes a few tries to spell. "Is there an E in valuables?" The chest ends up labeled "Valuables", and Basket heads out to break up sand by the fenced farm.
A trip to the cave farm
"Does anybody want to go on an adventure to the cave and check our crops over there?" Basket crafts cobblestone stairs and sets off across the plains with Scoti_Garbidis, down a stone stairway cut into a hillside and into a cave lit with torches. Down there is a second farm: wheat and other crops on tilled dirt, with water running between the rows. Basket's inventory shows the enchanted armor from last time, an iron helmet with Protection I and the chestplate with Projectile Protection I. On the way, a reminder that the month is nearly over: "So we've got one more day after this."
A zombie and some natural lava
The team goes deeper into the cave, with pikerize and Scoti_Garbidis up ahead. A zombie comes along the tunnel, and nobody is allowed to hit it. Someone has an idea about a lava pool nearby, and soon the zombie is standing in the lava, on fire, while dirt blocks go down around it. The guilt arrives right after. "Is that cheating? Did we just cheat?" The defense: "It was natural lava." Then, a little later: "I don't know if that was cheating, man. I feel terrible now." Someone admits, "This has been very challenging."
Potatoes and a walk in the rain
Back at the cave farm, Basket loads a furnace with potatoes and pulls out baked potatoes one after another. Someone has bones, and bone meal goes on the crops. Nobody is short of food now: "I don't think food is an issue anymore." Later: "We're not starving anymore." Rain sets in, and someone asks, "What's the time of day?" The pair leave the wheat that is not quite ready and walk home across the plains at dusk, Scoti_Garbidis out in front in the rain.
Shutters and a chimney
At the house pulse2010 is inside, and Basket turns wheat into bread at the crafting table. Then it is up the ladder to the roof in the dark, looking down over the farm in the rain. A cobblestone chimney now rises through the roof. "Got a little chimney action going on." The plan on the call: "I'm getting the shutters put in though. And then I'm going to put in some window sills we can put flower pots on for the upper windows." A bit later: "All right, all the shutters are in." A potted flower already sits on the checkered floor.
Pots for day nine
The last job is more flower pots, which means clay. "How much clay do we have?" Someone wants a window put in behind a chest: "That looks odd without a window there." Basket climbs into the loft, where the red beds sit beside the chimney, and sorts through the inventory. Everything goes back in the chests, and on the call: "There we go." Basket is alive with full hearts, and no death shows on screen. The credits follow, with no gameplay after them.
