Day four of the Max Writer Challenge starts where day three stopped: Basket is in a netherrack tunnel in the Nether, with brown mushrooms, a bowl and no red mushrooms to make stew. There's no way to see the sun down here, so Basket starts a timer and keeps digging.
Digging toward the fortress
Basket has coordinates for a Nether fortress and digs toward them, checking the debug screen on the way. The bigger worry is lava: "if lava comes I need to react quickly." The tunnel opens next to a pocket of lava, and then: "Okay, so there's the Nether Fortress." Torches are running low, so Basket warns that "it's going to be kind of dark." The first chest holds a saddle. "I guess I'll keep the saddle."
Red mushrooms at last
"I really, really need red mushrooms." Basket wants them badly enough to risk the wither skeletons that might be around. Deeper in, there's nether wart growing in the fortress, and red mushrooms beside it. A blaze shows up nearby, so Basket blocks it off. The inventory is too full to pick the mushrooms up at first. Once there's room, Basket crafts mushroom stew in the bowl, eats, and starts to heal. Some nether wart and soul sand go into the bag too.
A blaze with nothing to show
Basket goes after the blaze: "Come closer. Come closer. Alright, a little closer. One more tap." It dies, but nothing drops. "Did he drop anything? I don't think so." So the job isn't done yet: "So we need a blaze rod, at least one."
Chests and dead ends
The corridors are a maze. Basket kills a skeleton for a bone ("I can use the bones for all sorts of stuff"), blocks off side passages with cobblestone, and opens chest after chest. One has golden armor ("I don't think I care about that"), others have iron and gold. Then Basket runs out of blocks, hits a dead end, and comes back around to a chest already looted. "This kinda looks familiar."
A trap at the spawner
A sound around a corner "sounds promising": a blaze spawner. Basket doesn't walk up to it. Instead the plan is to burrow through the netherrack and get the blazes to fall into a pit. "One down." A blaze rod shows up in the inventory, and Basket calls it "mission accomplished." The way to the spawner gets sealed off, "so I don't run into it by accident," and Basket heads back toward the portal.
A tree in the Nether
Back at the saplings from last time, Basket decides food is worth the bone meal. "I sort of don't want to waste all my bone meal, but I guess eating is important." One sapling shoots up into a full oak on the netherrack. Basket chops it down and breaks the leaves looking for apples. Bone meal goes on a red mushroom as well, and in the end Basket picks it up to take along: "potentially make a dark room somewhere to try and grow it." The Nether part of the job is done. "But now we have the required stuff from the Nether, at least."
Back to the desert
Basket steps back through the portal into daylight, and the zombies around the cobblestone wall are on fire. "Lots of guys burning up all over the place. So it's definitely day." Basket ends the episode there, alive at the portal, planning to "gather up all these goodies from all these dead people" at the start of the next one. The credits roll after that, with no gameplay after them.
