Day five of Michael Deering's July 2014 challenge starts with news from the call: another entrant found a second jungle temple, "and we are very curious about the temple because there is treasures underneath it." The rules haven't changed: no armor, no swords or bows, no meat, and Basket and Sayulily both have to survive. They still need diamonds for an enchanting table, so the plan for the day is a long walk. "Hopefully they'll be enough to get our enchanting table."
Packing for the trip
Bread and mushrooms go into the packs, plus two buckets. Shutting the piston door behind them takes a few tries ("the redstone gets in the way"), and then it's out across the river and into the trees, heading south by southwest. Cookies come out early on the walk.
Steering by numbers
The temple is a long way off, and the only way to find it is by coordinates. For long stretches Basket's screen shows the debug screen, and nobody likes it. "I hate having the coordinates up on my screen." The jungle is thick enough to lose each other in. "Oh no. I lost you." "Okay, I'm standing still." Then the rain comes in: "This is perfect jungle weather."
No swords, one axe
Without a sword, the diamond axe does all the fighting. "Oh, creeper, creeper, creeper!" One comes out of the vines, and Basket goes at it with the axe until it's gone in a puff of smoke. "I'm used to having a sword where I can block, although I don't have armor anyway."
Night falls before they get there. A skeleton starts shooting, then follows them. "He's still chasing us." "Whoa, there's another one. Careful." They head out to the water to shake it off, run into a zombie ("That's not so bad"), and admit they've wandered: "We've gotten lost and sidetracked."
The second temple
They correct course, and finally: "Bingo." The temple sits across the water in the rain, with a zombie by its wall. "It's being guarded by a creeper." Torches go up, and the two head inside. "Oh creeper creeper creeper!" "You okay?" "Yup."
The layout is "the reverse of ours." They count down and open the chests together. "One, two, three." The haul is bones and rotten flesh. "Did you get diamonds?" "No, I didn't. That's weird." Maybe the loot is set by the seed, maybe it's the wrong temple. "Maybe we found a different temple."
End of day five
There's a "phase two" planned for this temple, but it has to wait. "We'll have to start phase two next episode because it's the end of the day."
The two sign off side by side inside the temple. "We got some cuts, we got some scrapes, but we're still here and we're still alive." Both players are alive with no death on screen, still short of diamonds, and the end card follows with no gameplay after it.
