Day four of Michael Deering's May challenge starts in the village with last episode's iron. Basket counts it out ("I have 33 iron") and turns it into a chestplate and leggings, then another iron pickaxe. A spare pickaxe goes into a chest. The plan for the day is to dig up a lot of cobblestone, and the reason stays vague on purpose: "We're gonna build something."
Torch all the things
Basket heads back into the cave near the village with FriarNurgle, lighting everything on the way down. "I'm just going to torch all the things." Lava shows up almost right away, and so does a joke about it: "Oh no, I fell under the lava. No, I'm joking."
Cobblestone piles up as Basket digs a stairway down, and a little more iron comes with it. Then the talk on the call turns to diamonds. With an enchanting table, Efficiency on their tools could beat a plain diamond pickaxe. They need three more for that, "because we have the two back in town."
Deep with the lava lakes
Basket digs on down to where the lava lakes sit, grabbing redstone along the way ("I'll grab that for XP"), then more gold and iron. There's still no water bucket. "Usually I travel with water buckets, yeah, but I use it all up without really thinking about it."
The month's rule says to stay in the village at night. The view on the call is that the village is already lit and fenced, and that Basket is close enough that the village stays loaded anyway. So the digging goes on.
Further along, an underground stream runs next to a lava pool. A zombie stands at the water's edge, and a moment later one is burning at the edge of the lava.
Night falls up top
"Oh, yep, it's nighttime." From the village, the report on the call is quiet: "It's nighttime and villagers are just kind of walking around." There's also a cow in one of the houses. Someone floats an idea for the cobblestone: smelt the iron, make a bucket, and build a cobblestone generator.
Basket sets up a furnace and a crafting table right beside a lava pool, smelts the new iron and makes a bucket. "I have about four stacks of cobble." There's no water nearby to fill the bucket, though.
Four diamonds
Up in the village, a skeleton has gotten inside the fence. "Maybe spawned on top of one of these houses here," goes the guess on the call, which also notes that a couple of the houses have no torches on their roofs.
Down below, Basket is mining along the lava, carefully. Then the diamonds turn up. Chat reads "BasketMC has just earned the achievement [DIAMONDS!]", and the count is four. With the two back in town, that covers an enchanting table and a diamond pickaxe, with one left over for a jukebox if they can find a record.
Day four ends with Basket back at the cave furnace, still underground in the dark, planning to look for water and pick up some obsidian on the way up. The end card follows, with no gameplay after it.
