Day 3 starts on the surface. Basket, 8ong8ong and pikerize are out of the last episode's cave, and now they head for the middle of the map. A skeleton is waiting in the woods. The order over voice: "Don't die from the skeleton. It's an order."
Chickens on the way to spawn
They walk toward spawn, mostly east, with a compass pointing them at the center. "Definitely kill chickens as we go. We need the feathers." The chickens do not cooperate. After "heaps of chickens," one of them has five feathers to show for it.
Water on the lava
In a clearing they find a pool of lava sitting right on the surface. Basket pours water over it, and the lava turns to obsidian. Four blocks is the goal. One of them brings up the Nether, and they agree to skip it this late in the game. A tree near the lava catches fire, but they get their obsidian. "I got the four."
A staircase toward the border
The team picks a spot next to a tree and digs a staircase down to the west, toward the border. The reason, as one of them explains it: if the border is closing in, "you have a place to run away from the border." A torch on the tree marks the entrance on the way down, then gets taken away "just so people don't find our entrance."
Chat has fun on the way down. Scoti_Garbidis earns the Getting Wood achievement, the one for punching a first tree, on day 3. BasketMC types "congrats," and NewaZusa asks, "why chop wood at night?" Then a yellow line shows up: "Soul Crusher will wake in 2 minutes!" Two minutes later it is red: "Soul Crusher is coming!" The border shrinks 95 blocks over five minutes.
A cave full of mobs
The stairs break into a cave, and it is busy. Zombies and skeletons come out of the dark, then creepers. The team builds small walls as choke points and splits up to check side tunnels. "There might be a spawner up here." One skeleton carries what they call a "magic bow." It goes down, and the bow does not drop.
Chat goes on without them. Epic_Swampert earns the DIAMONDS! achievement. Virii333 earns Time to Mine! and Getting an Upgrade, and bjaydubya writes "finally" and "took you long enough." MomofMiners adds, "Diamonds are sooo 2015."
The enchanting table at last
Down in the tunnels, someone remembers the point of all that obsidian. They have diamonds and obsidian, and still no enchanting table. "Because we got down here and then forgot about it?" They regroup in one room, pool sugar cane and leather for books, and set up beside the crafting table.
Basket opens the new table. Then the server posts "End of Day 3. Players remaining:" with 20 names, BasketMC, 8ong8ong and pikerize among them. Basket is alive with the orange team in the cave when the episode ends.
