Basket takes the Kestrel Cruiser Type C out again, hoping to "unlock some of the other missions" and get more ships. The hangar names it The Swallow, on Normal, with Dual Lasers, an Ion Stunner and three crew: Kadreal, Xemu and Hutz. The run is one short video. It never leaves Sector 1: after losing Kadreal at an abandoned station, Basket decides to reset and start a new game next time.
Ion on the shields
Sector 1 is a Civilian Sector. The first fight is a Pirate Investigator in a nebula. Basket targets its weapons first, then moves the Ion Stunner to the shields and holds the lasers back a beat so the full volley lands. The win brings only "a sliver of goodies." An Auto-Scout with no shields comes next, and its reward is the Distraction Buoys augmentation, which delays the Rebels one jump at the start of each sector.
A costly Auto-Assault
An Auto-Assault with a drone knocks the shields down and starts a fire. "This wasn't worth it." Then the Auto-Assault slips away: "oh he's getting away, I didn't even notice that." At the next beacons Basket overhears that someone wants an enemy ship taken intact, but the job needs a crew teleporter the Swallow does not have. A mercenary offers to delay the Rebels for 23 scrap, and Basket pays. A pirate then offers a bribe to stay out of its business, and Basket takes it.
A sun, a surrender and a store
The next fight is a Pirate Disruptor next to a sun, with the hull warning at 75%. Ion on the shields, lasers on the weapons, and the Disruptor explodes into a pile of scrap. A Pirate Instigator follows; the oxygen goes out mid-fight, but the pirate gives up first, and Basket accepts its offer of fuel and scrap. At the store, with 40 scrap, Basket buys the Backup DNA Bank: "cause we have the cloning bay, that might be nice to not lose our guys."
How it ended
A Rebel Fighter is next, and it jumps away before the Swallow can finish it. "I'm tempted to reset this already," Basket says. At the exit beacon an abandoned space station shows faint life signs, and Basket boards it to look for survivors. The event text says the crew member who went is "not going to make it," and afterward the crew list shows only Xemu and Hutz. "Oh, and we lost the guy."
That settles it. "I am going to reset this," Basket says. "I feel like it's not really worth playing for the next couple days given that we're so screwed already in the beginning." The next episode, Basket says, will be a new game, on a different ship or maybe this one again. The video ends with the Swallow still in Sector 1, parked beside a red planet with its jump ready, and then the end cards. No game-over screen appears.
