Basket takes the Stealth Cruiser out for a fifth time, still after the same goal: to destroy a ship at full health during a single cloak, the Stealth Cruiser's Bird of Prey achievement. The ship is The Nesasio, Layout A, on Normal with Advanced Edition content enabled, carrying Dual Lasers, a Mini Beam, Long-Ranged Scanners and Titanium System Casing, with no shields. The first attempt is dropped early and a new game starts with Stick, Filip and one more crew member. The run ends in Sector 4, the Slug Controlled Nebula, where The Nesasio is torn apart for a score of 1452.
Part 1: A restart and a Rock
The first game opens with Noemi, Tai Yi and Teldarin on the crew list. A pirate goes down easily, but the second fight is a Rebel Disruptor with a beam drone. "Our weapons are now gone," Basket says. "I should have avoided this fight, I guess." With the hull at half and the weapons beat up, Basket says, "Let's pretend like that didn't happen, let's go ahead and start a new one," and the video goes back to the hangar.
The second game goes better. Sector 1 is a Civilian Sector. A Pirate Outrider surrenders and hands over a crew member, Declan, and from then on events offer Rock crew options. At a research station with a lab fire, Basket sends the Rock crew member in and comes away with an Automated Re-loader. "Our weapons fire faster. Awesome." Basket even avoids a fight with a Rebel automated ship near a sensor station: "It's pretty rare that I choose that option."
Sector 2 is the Uncharted Nebula, picked because "I have the long range scanners." A pirate ship with Mind Control takes over the captain for a while, then surrenders for fuel, drone parts and scrap. At the next store Basket buys Drone Control, which comes with a free System Repair Drone. "So if we're hurt, we can pop out a repair drone."
Part 2: Another nebula, and a new laser
Sector 3 is another Uncharted Nebula. A Mantis Interceptor teleports a boarder into the door system, and Basket vents the air from that room before the lasers and the Mini Beam finish the ship. A Pirate Fighter offers to surrender, but Basket does not need what it offers and finishes it instead. "Ah, that's more like it."
An Auto-Hacker is tougher. It hacks the piloting, and the fight drags on with fires aboard. "I feel like we're really close," Basket says, but jumps away instead, more hurt than expected. At the store Basket weighs a Pegasus missile against the goal. The cloak "could last fifteen seconds, so if you have stuff that charges in less than fifteen seconds" it might work. Basket buys the Hull Smasher Laser for 55 scrap, though there is no power for it yet.
A second Mantis Interceptor goes down, and so does a second Auto-Hacker, and Basket spends the scrap on upgrades. Near the exit a Rebel Rigger waits at a beacon, and Basket stays cloaked and leaves: "I don't trust it." The next stop is the Slug Controlled Nebula. "That should be interesting."
Part 3: The Slug Controlled Nebula
Sector 4 starts well. An Auto-Scout with no shields pays 40 scrap ("Wow, 40. Nice."), and Basket spends it to get all three weapons online. Then a Slug Scout disables the doors, fires break out and the oxygen fails. The ship wins with the hull critical, and Basket stops at a store for fuel and repairs: "I gotta stay alive, right?"
A Slug Light-Surveyor falls next. Then a Slug captain comes aboard with a drink to celebrate an alliance, and Basket has the Rockman pose as captain. The Rock spots an anesthetic in the flask, and the Slug goes back to its ship and opens fire. That Slug Light-Cruiser goes down after a long fight. With the Improved Cloaking option, the ship sneaks past an automated Rebel ship and reaches the station behind it undetected.
Then a Slug transport offers to trade. Basket asks to see the goods and agrees to its rules: no trades, no coupons, no refunds. The event text turns: "my man hass taken the liberty of disabling your weaponss," and the ship's weapons stop responding.
How it ended
With intruders aboard and the weapons dark, the Slug Light-Surveyor opens fire. "I didn't stealth," Basket says, and tries to repair enough to jump. The hull runs out first. The Nesasio breaks apart with Stick, Filip, Declan and the third crew member still aboard, and the game-over box reads "One last explosion marks your fate as your ship is torn apart," with a score of 1452.
"Anytime I come up with that quest," Basket says, "I am not being friendly." The video ends on the ship list before the end cards.
