Basket takes the Stealth Cruiser out a sixth time, chasing one of the two achievements that unlock its next layout. The hangar shows The Nesasio, Layout A, on Normal with Advanced Edition content enabled: a Mini Beam and Dual Lasers, Long-Ranged Scanners and Titanium System Casing, no drones and no shields. The crew list reads Kapalka, Tee Lek and Walker. Seven parts later The Nesasio destroys the Rebel Flagship for a score of 4291, and the Phase Shift achievement unlocks the Stealth Cruiser Type B on the way.
Part 1: No shields, so hacking
Basket names the targets up front: destroy a ship at full health during a single cloak, "so we need really good weapons for that," or avoid a lot of damage during a single cloak, which "can be achieved at least during the end fight." Sector 1 is a Civilian Sector. A Slug Interceptor's captain offers services for scrap, and Basket hires the ship to delay the Rebels.
Sector 2 is an Engi Controlled Sector. An Engi ship insists on destroying The Nesasio to stop a virus, and its beam hurts. A research station hands over a free item, which Basket sells at the next store and puts toward Hacking. "I don't know if that's a good choice or not." Then a pirate demands a toll, and Basket pays it: "That might be a first." The part ends with an automated ship guarding a storage cache, destroyed for a little scrap.
Part 2: Ten hull and a new laser
Sector 3 is a Mantis Controlled Sector. A young Mantis teleports aboard asking for protection from the Engi, and Basket sides with the fugitive. It was a trap: the Mantis sabotages the sensors before teleporting away, and the Engi ship still has to be fought. Fights keep landing damage. "Having no shields is so rough."
By the time The Nesasio reaches a store the hull is down to 10. Basket buys the Hull Smasher Laser Mark II for 75 scrap, upgrades the weapons system to power it, and patches the ship. "So we're back in the game, guys." A civilian ship gets help against a Mantis ship in a long fight. At the exit a refugee convoy offers to upgrade the oxygen system, and Basket says no, then sees the next sector is a Slug home world, "one situation where that might be handy." Part 3 opens with the oxygen upgraded.
Part 3: The Slug Home Nebula
Sector 4 is the Slug Home Nebula, and The Nesasio arrives with three fuel. The Slugs use a remote hacking satellite to sabotage the oxygen and then fire on the ship. Partway through that fight a "Warlord" achievement pops up. A refugee ship turns out to be a pirate with teleporting bombs, and Basket now opens most fights by hacking the enemy shields. One fight ends with every enemy crew member dead: "So I got fuel, which I like, and a bunch of money." A pirate tries to jump away, gets its FTL delayed, and surrenders six fuel, two drone parts and scrap. The next stop is a Slug Controlled Nebula.
Part 4: A Vulcan and seven moons
Sector 5 is the Slug Controlled Nebula. Basket upgrades the cloak so it lasts longer and uses the improved oxygen to shrug off another Slug trick. At a store Basket finds a Chain Vulcan for 95 scrap. "It's so good, though." It takes four power, "so that'd be everything." Basket buys it anyway: "Probably a mistake, but I'm going to buy the Vulcan." It charges faster than Basket remembered, and a pirate soon surrenders 56 scrap, six fuel, missiles and a drone.
Two Slug ships raid a pirate, and Basket lets the pirate go to chase the Slug ship, which hands over its share. Then a Slug marooned on a moon offers to join if the crew can say how many moons orbit the planet. The event text had just said seven. "I'm glad I at least skim the text slightly." Magmar the Slug joins the crew.
Part 5: Shields at last
Sector 6 is a Rock Controlled Sector. At the first store Basket sells the Small Bomb from the last part to afford Shields. "I've been kind of missing shields, actually." A Rock crew member on a small craft says the Rock home world runs on lies and propaganda, and the improved sensors let Basket show them the ship's data suite. They join as Yevon Si. A pirate surrenders for scrap instead of fuel and drones, a choice Basket calls "wrong choice, oh well," and the leftover scrap goes into a second layer of shields before the exit.
Part 6: One more sector
Sector 7 is a Civilian Sector, the last before the Last Stand. A human mining colony has a riot under quarantine, and Basket sends the Rock crew member in. Basket spends scrap on more reactor power, hoping to get the Hull Smasher Laser back online. One flak fight hurts: "I don't know why I didn't stealth for that." At the exit, slavers finally show up. Basket beats their ship, and they surrender a crew member, Feras. "That is the end of this sector and this episode."
Part 7: The Last Stand
Sector 8 is the Last Stand. Admiral Tully asks who they are, and the base patches the ship and adds fuel. Rebel ships fill the route to the base, and Basket fights several of them, saving drone parts for the Flagship and buying better doors and more reactor power along the way.
The Flagship's first stage hacks the engines and cloaks, and The Nesasio comes out of it hurt. The second stage sends drones, and Basket wins it with the oxygen in trouble. The last stage sends crew aboard and starts behind an extra shield. Basket waits for the missiles and the big attack to fire, then cloaks. "This might be it. Hold your horses, all these weapons, don't screw up my cloak." The Phase Shift achievement pops up, then "Stealth Cruiser Type B" unlocked.
How it ended
The Flagship breaks apart in the target panel. The end crawl thanks The Nesasio and its crew, "Kapalka, Tee Lek, Walker, Magmar, Yevon Si and Feras," and the VICTORY! box reads "Congratulations! You've defeated the Rebel Flagship and ensured the victory of the Federation!" with a score of 4291. In the hangar Basket opens the new Type B, which starts with no shields and a Glaive Beam, and says it is next.
