Basket takes out the Stealth Cruiser Type B for the first time, on Normal with Advanced Edition content enabled. The hangar names it the DA-SR 12, with a single weapon, the Glaive Beam, the Long-Ranged Scanners augmentation, no drone system and no shields. The crew list shows Phillips, Layla and Mara, an Engi. "So it has a Glaive Beam and that's it." Two parts later the ship is torn apart by a Pirate Fighter in Sector 2, the Engi Controlled Sector, for a score of 726.
Part 1: A restart and a bird of prey
Sector 1 is a Civilian Sector. The first fight ends with the enemy ship destroyed in one go, but the ship was not cloaked, so it does not count for the Stealth Cruiser achievement Basket is after: destroying a ship from full health in a single cloak. A later fight leaves the ship beat up, with the oxygen out and the piloting down. "I feel like we just started, and now we have a better idea of how the ship works. So I'm going to restart it, but still stay in the same episode."
The new game starts with the same crew. At the first beacon a Rebel Fighter charges up, Basket cloaks, and the Glaive Beam takes it apart before it can fire back. The Bird of Prey achievement pops up. "So it's actually fairly easy to do. Now we just want to get this guy to the last sector to unlock C."
Basket buys a Backup Battery at a store ("It's probably not really worth it right now, but it's okay") and uses the scanners to track down a damaged Federation ship in a nebula, finding only an empty hull and some scrap. A Rebel Invader offers its cargo to surrender. Basket refuses, and it runs away "right before he died."
Then a Rebel Rigger with its FTL charging sets the ship on fire. The oxygen fails, and Mara drops off the crew list before the Rigger jumps away. "We're really hurt and we're low on crew, but we'll see how long we can make it." A pirate offers a bribe to stay out of its chase, and Basket fights it instead. At the last stop a space station tavern has mercenaries, and Basket hires Mort for 43 scrap. "So now we have another crew, so we're sort of back in business."
Part 2: The Engi Controlled Sector
"Today we're continuing our sort of failed, maybe not failed mission." Sector 2 is the Engi Controlled Sector. A Pirate Hacker hacks the doors, and Basket turns off the oxygen to keep the cloak powered longer. The fight ends with some damage to the oxygen room and 24 scrap. A distress call turns out to be a trap set by a Rebel Rigger, and one cloaked volley from the Glaive Beam finishes it.
A nearby station hears about the ship's flight from the Rebels and hands over a weapon, the Hull Laser I. There is not enough power to run it next to the Glaive Beam, so Basket holds on to it. At a store Basket buys Drone Control, which comes with a System Repair Drone. A Mantis Fighter teleports crew aboard, and the crew fights the boarders off.
A derelict coated in ice or crystal holds a salvageable weapon and a strange stasis pod. Basket takes the weapon and scrap: "This is good for the quest line, but we're not doing that quest line." The weapon is a missile launcher the weapons bar calls the Hull Mi. A distress call with giant spiders gets skipped, since there is no clone bay.
How it ended
The last fight is against a Pirate Fighter with "a big pike beam." Basket cloaks as it fires, and "it's not good at all." The hull drops to critical, the oxygen goes out, and the FTL drive is not ready. "I can't jump yet. I only have one health, and it's game over." The DA-SR 12 breaks apart with Phillips, Layla and Mort aboard, and the Game Over box reads "One last explosion marks your fate as your ship is torn apart," with a score of 726. "So there is run one, technically run two, but we'll just call it run one of the Stealth Cruiser B."
