Tree World is the fourth episode of Basket's realMyst: Masterpiece Edition playthrough, recorded from a stream. It opens back on the island, unsure where the last session stopped. A safe and a boiler turn a tree into a way into a swampy world of treehouses, where Basket routes water to power elevators and brings a red page and a blue page home. The second half goes to the airship: getting it power, then a long fight with a keyboard and a row of sliders. The video ends in a new world, stuck on a puzzle of sounds.
The safe and the boiler
"I feel like this isn't where we left off," says the commentary, and Basket walks the island checking notes. The airship comes first ("So we need this thing to point over to the blimp"), but its way in is closed. In a log cabin, a safe with three number wheels opens to 724, a number from Basket's notes, and gives up a match. "We will light the boiler."
The boiler next to it takes a few tries. Once it is lit, a tall tree outside starts to rise ("The tree is growing very tall"). Basket brings it back down, and inside the trunk is a small room with a book. "We are going to the tree world."
Water through the treetops
The tree world is a swamp, with walkways at water level and houses up in the trees. Pipes run everywhere, with switches at each junction. Basket turns on a pump by a windmill and sends water down one branch at a time. Water to the right machine powers an elevator, and the ride goes up into the treetops: "It's windy up here, no longer any frogs." Up there the rope bridges and huts all look alike, and Basket keeps "hugging the left" to stay oriented.
Something in one hut unlocks a door to a stair down, and another elevator goes higher still. In a beaten-up house Basket finds a page. In a broken-open room there is a blue page and a round device; pressing it shows a man's face and plays a recorded message. Only one page can be carried, so Basket takes one. Back on the lower walkways, more water switching powers another machine and another elevator, and at the end of that route is a book that takes Basket home.
The red page goes into the red book in the library. Basket then goes back, re-routes the water, fetches the blue page and puts it in the blue book. The commentary's verdict on the two faces: "One of them is scheming, the other one's crazy."
Power to the airship
The airship is next. In the generator room, a poster on the wall reads "Power," "Power to Ship" and "Generator Switches." Each button on the panel adds its own amount to the gauge, and Basket writes the amounts down one by one to hit the target: "59 volts is what I want." With 59 on the gauge, Basket climbs out to the switches by the airship's tower, then checks back inside. "Now those things are saying they're going, it's power to the blimp."
Five sliders and a keyboard
Inside the airship are a keyboard and a panel of five sliders by a round window. "I am not musically inclined, so this is going to be horrible." Basket counts keys from the bottom to set each slider (eight, then twenty, then twenty-three) and tries again and again. Nothing happens. The commentary asks for a vague hint, and a viewer answers that the approach is right and only a little off.
Back in the library, Basket checks the journal's drawing of the keyboard, with five keys marked and numbered, against the notes. One slider turns out to be off by one. With it fixed and the lever pulled, the round window lights up, and a book takes Basket to a new world.
A world of sounds
It is a rocky place at dusk, with a tower like a clock and small shrines, each with a glowing symbol over a red button. Basket turns them all on and notes the sound at each one: wind out of a hole, a sound like blowing across a bottle, a clock, a crack in the earth, and dripping water. "Note to self, pay attention to sounds."
In a stone room, a panel turns a viewer around with green arrows and shows a number for each direction. Basket finds each sound's reading: 133.1 for the water drops, 115.5 for the crack in the earth, and so on. At a panel of five sliders with a speaker, next to a big carved round door, Basket sets them from the smallest number to the largest. The door stays shut. "It seems like that's the right answer to me. Clearly it's not." The video ends at that panel, with the sound puzzle unsolved.
